I have chosen items such as slap bracelets, squishies, and rubix cubes to serve as incentives for students whose progress is monitored with a behavior or academic chart. These are items students strive to earn weekly, and although small, they do enjoy having a "confirmation" for the work they've accomplished over the week. Earning prizes students actually want and enjoy is a great way to boost their motivation to meet their behavior or academic goals. Students look forward to bringing their charts to the counselor's office every Friday where we count up their earned points (points are given by teachers throughout each school day), discuss times during the day where they did not receive many points, and searching through the prize box for a special item they've earned for all their hard work.
