Thank you so much for your support of our music program! I cannot thank you enough for seeing the value in a public school music education program! My students will be beyond blessed to have instruments to play in class. I can't wait to make music with my students and bask in the joy of collaboration!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sen

Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students are absolutely loving the new instruments. We have been playing the drums in class to teach rhythms like quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes. The percussion instruments allow students the opportunity to practice their rhythms and express their creativity!

When my students saw the new instruments, they were very excited! They love playing the drums and now every student gets to play. As a public school, we don't have a lot of instruments, so your generous contribution means the world.

The next step is obtaining more instruments so each student can use their own eventually. Currently students are sharing instruments or taking turns, as we have around 25 students in each class. My next goal is to keep gathering more resources so students can have their own individual instrument! Thank you again for the instruments!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sen

Thank you so much for your generous donation to purchase instruments for my classroom! My students were so thrilled that they got the opportunity to play the xylophones and learn about Japanese culture. The students were beaming with joy when they played the folk song "Kaeru No Utaga" on the xylophone. I told our students we had the opportunity to use instruments because of generous donors such as you!

The next step for our classroom is to purchase more xylophones so that each student can use their own! Currently, students are sharing xylophones, as we have up to 25 students in each class! Our ultimate dream is to have enough xylophones where each student can play their own!

Again, thank you for your generous donation and support of public school music education. We are truly grateful for everything you do to care for our public school students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sen

    Funded Nov 18, 2023

Thank you for your generous grant award to fund my project, "Music Inspires Creativity, Confidence, and Collaboration!" Your grant supports multicultural music lessons that teach students to play songs, learn musical concepts, and collaborate in creative group projects that foster an appreciation for their identity and respect for diversity. My students were so excited to learn about Japan and play the folk song "Kaeru No Utaga" on the new xylophones. When they saw the new instruments, they were so excited to collaborate with the class and perform the ostinato on the xylophone while others sang the song!

The next step is to purchase more xylophones so that each student can get their own instrument. Students are currently sharing the xylophones, as there are 23-25 students in each class. We will use the xylophones to learn songs about China, The Philippines, and Korea in the future!

We are very appreciative of your support of our music program. Music brings all students together and has no boundaries as they learn to sing and play in harmony as one ensemble. As they perform music, they grow in their self-confidence and appreciation for the various cultures in Hawaii. Students gain Social-Emotional Learning skills such as social awareness, relationship skills, and self-awareness as they collaborate to perform multicultural music from Japan. Thank you for investing in our keiki's development and supporting their music education.”

Thank you so much for your generous donation! I am so grateful for your support of our growing music program. As a public school music teacher, I am so grateful to have the opportunity to now play songs on the xylophones. My students have been playing cultural songs on the xylophone. Recently, we learned the Japanese song, "Kaeru No Utaga" and played an accompaniment on the xylophone. The instruments supplement my cultural lessons and create a more enriching music-making experience.

My students were so excited when they saw the xylophones. They loved playing the musical accompaniment while singing the Japanese folk song. They are so grateful for your generous donation and support toward our music program.

The next steps are to learn more cultural songs from Korea, China, and the Philippines with a xylophone accompaniment. My goal is to raise money to purchase more xylophones, so each child can have their own (we are currently still sharing and having kids wait their turn).”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sen
