They really enjoy being able to read a book that they liked and not necessarily all having to read the same book to complete the project. They had to summarize their book and be able to explain how it fit into our Essential Question for the unit. The kids were engrossed in their text. When they first saw the table, they were so excited, they all wanted to immediately crowd around it, amazed that they could write directly on the surface. Next, we'll be using the table during our expressions unit, where students will create visual models of expressions, compare strategies, and explain their thinking in a more engaging, hands-on way.
