This helps my students to be able to focus more and feel more comfortable in the classroom. Most of my students are very excited when they get to use the stools in class although I have have had to make a rule about if you're not able to control yourself on the stool and you cannot sit on the stool. One of my favorite moments was watching two students work through a challenging multi-step problem together and showing their reasoning right on the tabletop. It has made our discussions more visual and interactive, and students are more willing to revise their thinking because they can erase and try again instantly. When they first saw the table, they were so excited, they all wanted to immediately crowd around it, amazed that they could write directly on the surface. Next, we'll be using the table during our expressions unit, where students will create visual models of expressions, compare strategies, and explain their thinking in a more engaging, hands-on way.
