This word describes the return on investment and results of reading this book in class. From the very beginning of reading the novel, my students began conversations about the old days (1950s), the [real] burgers that began the whole food industry, the models that the food industry adopted from car makers, and the list goes on. Every day, we had class conversations about a person, an event, an issue, or a relevant contemporary issue. Every day, students noted the statistics as we read the 2006 edition and quickly Googled updated, present-day statistics, which initiated further conversations. Students easily found points of interests from which to research their class presentations and visuals. So much of the nuance of conversation was amazing each day after reading a part or chapter because the interdisciplinary connections were evident to students and were great talking points. I looked forward to student responses every day. What a productive, engaging book for young people and me!! While many of our donors are familiar with technology at home, 3D printing in the classroom goes beyond screen time—it allows students to design, create, test, and revise physical models that directly support learning in AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP/IB Environmental Science.\r\n\r\nUsing the 3D printer and filament, students can physically manipulate molecular structures, chromosome models, lab equipment, and environmental system components. This helps them better understand spatial relationships, cause-and-effect interactions, and complex processes that are often difficult to visualize from textbooks alone. The technology supports inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and collaboration—skills essential for success in advanced science courses and future STEM careers.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is seeing their ideas come to life. Watching a digital design become a real, usable object builds confidence and ownership over their learning. Students are especially engaged when they can customize models for specific labs or create tools that solve real classroom problems, such as lab organizers or environmental sampling devices.\r\n\r\nThis technology has been particularly impactful for visual and hands-on learners, as well as students who struggle with traditional instruction. Several students who are typically quiet in class have taken leadership roles by helping design models, troubleshoot prints, or assist peers. Others who are interested in engineering, design, or environmental science have found a new passion through this creative outlet.
