My classroom is filled with resilient, hardworking, and inspiring students from many different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including students from Haitian, Guatemalan, Mexican, Nicaraguan, and other multilingual communities. My students are English language learners who are balancing the challenge of learning a new language while also adapting to a new educational system, culture, and future. My classroom is more than just a place to learn English and literature—it is a safe and supportive environment where students build confidence, develop their voices, and discover their strengths. Many of my students thrive when provided with visual supports, hands-on learning opportunities, collaborative activities, and engaging materials that make rigorous content accessible.
