This project, \"Help High School Students as They Power Through Their Day!\", will provide my students with snacks and essential classroom tools that can help them remain energized, focused, and prepared throughout the school day. These may seem like simple resources, but for a student who is hungry, tired, or without the supplies needed to complete an assignment, they can make a tremendous difference.\r\n\r\nHigh school students have demanding schedules. Many arrive at school early in the morning and spend seven or more hours attending classes, completing assignments, working on projects, taking assessments, and participating in extracurricular activities. Some students may also have jobs, family responsibilities, athletics, or other commitments after school. By the time they reach my classroom, especially later in the day, their energy and ability to concentrate may be running low.\r\n\r\nHunger can quickly become a distraction. It is difficult for students to concentrate on a challenging lesson, solve a problem, complete a project, or participate in a classroom discussion when they are thinking about when they will have their next meal. Having snacks available in the classroom will provide students with a quick source of energy when they need it most. A simple snack can help a student recharge, refocus, and continue working instead of allowing hunger to interfere with an important learning opportunity.\r\n\r\nThis project will also provide students with useful learning tools and classroom supplies. Not every student arrives at school with all the materials they need every day. When supplies are readily available, students can begin working without feeling embarrassed about not having something or having to sit out of an activity. Providing these resources helps create a classroom where students have more equitable access to the materials necessary to participate and succeed.\r\n\r\nThe greatest impact of this project will be helping students feel supported. When students enter a classroom where their academic and basic needs are considered, they know that someone cares about their success. Having access to a snack when they are hungry or a needed classroom supply can communicate a powerful message: You belong here, your education matters, and we want you to succeed.\r\n\r\nWith these resources, my students will be better equipped to stay engaged during lessons, collaborate with their classmates, complete assignments, tackle challenging problems, and persevere when learning becomes difficult. Instead of allowing hunger or a lack of supplies to become an obstacle, students can focus their attention on learning and reaching their academic goals.\r\n\r\nSupport from DonorsChoose donors will reach students in a very practical and immediate way. Every donated snack and classroom resource will be placed directly into the hands of students who can use it to make their school day a little easier and more productive. These resources will support not only academic achievement but also students' confidence, independence, and sense of belonging in the classroom.\r\n\r\nBy supporting this project, donors are helping provide much more than snacks and supplies. You are helping create an environment where students can feel prepared, encouraged, and ready to learn. Your generosity will help my students power through long school days, remain focused on their education, and continue working toward their goals.\r\n\r\nSometimes a small act of support can provide exactly what a student needs to keep going. Thank you for helping my students stay fueled, focused, prepared, and ready to succeed!","fullyFundedDate":1758894814932,"projectUrl":"project/help-high-school-students-as-they-power/9555731/","projectTitle":"Help High School Students as They Power Through Their Day!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9728997"},{"teacherId":9728997,"projectId":8737855,"letterContent":"This project will have a meaningful impact on my high school students by providing snacks and essential tools that help them stay focused, energized, and prepared to learn throughout the school day. High school students have long and demanding days filled with classes, assignments, projects, extracurricular activities, and other responsibilities. For some students, hunger or not having the supplies they need can become an additional barrier to learning. This project will help remove some of those barriers and create a classroom environment where students can focus more of their energy on learning and succeeding.\r\n\r\nProviding snacks may seem like a small gesture, but it can make a significant difference in a student's day. When students are hungry, it can be difficult for them to concentrate, participate in classroom activities, or complete challenging assignments. Having access to a quick snack can give students the boost they need to power through the remainder of the school day. Instead of being distracted by hunger, students can redirect their attention toward their lessons, collaborate with classmates, solve problems, and complete their work.\r\n\r\nThe learning tools provided through this project will also help ensure that students have access to the resources they need to participate fully in classroom activities. Students should not have to feel embarrassed or fall behind because they do not have a basic classroom supply when they need it. Having these resources readily available will allow students to come into the classroom knowing they have what they need to learn, create, and complete their assignments.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project is about supporting the whole student. Academic success is connected to students feeling prepared, supported, and valued. By providing snacks and learning tools, I can create a classroom environment that communicates to my students that their needs matter and that there are people who want to see them succeed. This support can help improve students' focus, participation, confidence, and willingness to engage in their education.\r\n\r\nDonorsChoose supporters will help fill a practical gap for students during their school day. Every snack and classroom resource provided through this project represents one less distraction or obstacle standing between a student and an opportunity to learn. These resources will be available when students need a little extra energy or support to keep moving forward.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this project will extend beyond simply providing food and supplies. It will help create a classroom where students can feel supported and ready to tackle the challenges of the day. When students have their basic needs met, they are better positioned to concentrate, participate, persevere through difficult tasks, and make the most of their learning opportunities.\r\n\r\nYour support will help my students power through their day with the energy, tools, and encouragement they need to succeed. By investing in this project, donors are not simply providing snacks and supplies—they are helping remove barriers to learning and giving students additional opportunities to stay focused, engaged, and confident in the classroom. Every contribution will help remind my students that their education matters and that a community of supporters is cheering them on as they work toward their goals and their future.","fullyFundedDate":1726172055773,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-mental-health-in-stem-buildi/8737855/","projectTitle":"Supporting Mental Health in Stem: Building Resilient Computer Scientists/Engineers/Mathematicians","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9728997"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61378","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2485,"numTeachers":160,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":11,"percentBlack":33,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.2,"schoolId":61378,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Collins Hill High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Collins Hill High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/gwinnett-county-public-schools/collins-hill-high-school/61378"}
