The students also struggled in the beginning with taking care of their pedals. They were a little rough with them and were not using them correctly. This provided an opportunity for me to teach my students how to use and care for the gifts they received. Having the opportunity to use the pedals is also a great motivator for positive behavior in the classroom. I truly appreciate the support you have provided for my classroom and my students. In 2nd grade, students have been talking about standard units of measurement and understanding how to estimate different lengths. We created yarn paintings where each student needed to estimate the length of the yarn they required before they applied it to their drawing. From there, we cut the lengths and used glue paint to make the yarn stick to their paper and give the project a 3D effect. \r\n\r\nSince most of the school uses yarm, we were very low on certain colors. When we got the box of new yarn, my students were excited to add more tints and shades to their work to make their yarn paintings look more realistic. We were also able to add a few more textures to make better artistic decisions about why we chose the yarn we did. \r\n\r\nOnce the 2nd graders finish using the yarn materials, 3rd graders will get a chance to use it with their large recycled weaving to connect to their pollution project in their homeroom.
