My students love graphic novels, and they were so excited when they saw the boxes being wheeled into the classroom. When I opened the boxes and started pulling out books, cheers were heard around the room! I pulled out Dog Man, Owl Diaries, and other graphic novel series that they loved and the smiles were so big.\r\n\r\nGraphic novels are great for emerging chapter book readers. Students get more words, and the pictures that they still rely on for comprehension. Students also learn stamina to finish bigger books with graphic novels. They are great for transitioning to chapter books with more words and less pictures. My students loved these books and loved helping put them on the shelves.
