Each mug includes reminders of important annotation strategies, helping students actively think about questioning, connecting, analyzing, and reflecting while they read. Students now use their mugs during independent reading, literature circles, and class discussions while enjoying coffee, tea, or hot chocolate in a cozy and welcoming learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students was designing mugs that reflected both their personalities and their learning. Students took great pride in creating something functional that they could use every day. What began as a creative project quickly became a meaningful academic tool. Even students who were previously hesitant to annotate or participate in discussions became more engaged because the mugs gave them simple, visible prompts to guide their thinking as they read.","fullyFundedDate":1755810403804,"projectUrl":"project/braiding-words-wisdom-bringing-braidi/9311880/","projectTitle":"Braiding Words & Wisdom: Bringing Braiding Sweetgrass to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Dumbuya","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7247848_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y368&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757507391593","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dramallamaclassroom"},{"teacherId":7247848,"projectId":10036708,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our students were able to experience the full process of growing and harvesting plants from seed while connecting their learning to \"Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults\". With the new gardening shears, grow lights, water bottles, cookbooks, and other supplies, students planted seeds, cared for their plants daily, and eventually harvested what they had grown themselves. Watching students make connections between the book's themes of reciprocity, respect for the earth, and sustainability and their own hands-on experiences in the garden was incredibly meaningful.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were excited and eager to begin planting right away. Many had never grown anything from seed before, so seeing sprouts emerge under the grow lights became a daily source of excitement and pride. Students took ownership of caring for their plants by watering them, monitoring growth, and learning how patience and consistency are essential parts of gardening. Harvest days were especially memorable, as students were able to see the results of their hard work and teamwork.","fullyFundedDate":1768917183438,"projectUrl":"project/growing-reciprocity-through-literature-a/10036708/","projectTitle":"Growing Reciprocity Through Literature and Science","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Dumbuya","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7247848_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y368&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757507391593","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dramallamaclassroom"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_121560","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":554,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":1,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":56,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":10,"gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.1,"schoolId":121560,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sail School for Arts - Infused Learning on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sail School for Arts - Infused Learning","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/georgia-department-of-education/sail-school-for-arts-infused-learning/121560"}
