Through this planning process, they are already learning the importance of service, teamwork, and helping others.\r\n\r\nStudents have taken ownership of the project by developing clean-up plans, assigning responsibilities, and discussing how to create welcoming outdoor spaces that everyone can enjoy. These conversations have helped them strengthen communication, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills while fostering a sense of pride in their school and community.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include putting these plans into action during our beautification day. My students only go to Specials-Music once a week.\r\nThey were so excited to have these instruments. Sound is one of our Georgia Standards. The use of real musical instruments helped the students academically as well as musically. My students created poetry which is a writing and ELA standard.\r\n\r\nThey were able to use alliteration and onomatopeia which is where the use of the instruments came in to play.\r\nThey made notes and sounds with excitement and joy to correspond with their poetry Jam. Watching their worries disappear has been a symbolic and empowering moment for many students. One student shared that it felt like they were \"finally letting the worry go,\" which opened the door to deeper conversation and emotional release.\r\nThe snack boxes have also had an immediate and positive impact. Snacks are offered during small‑group counseling sessions and individual check‑ins, especially for students who come to school hungry. Having food available helps students feel safe, cared for, and better able to focus on discussions and coping strategies. During one group session, students who were initially withdrawn became more engaged after receiving snacks—talking, sharing, and supporting one another once their basic needs were met.\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and appreciation.
