Through this planning process, they are already learning the importance of service, teamwork, and helping others.\r\n\r\nStudents have taken ownership of the project by developing clean-up plans, assigning responsibilities, and discussing how to create welcoming outdoor spaces that everyone can enjoy. The paper shredder has been especially meaningful during our \"Shredding Worries\" small‑group activity. Students are invited to write or draw worries that feel heavy—such as family concerns, friendships, or school stress—and then take turns feeding their papers into the shredder. Watching their worries disappear has been a symbolic and empowering moment for many students. One student shared that it felt like they were \"finally letting the worry go,\" which opened the door to deeper conversation and emotional release.\r\nThe snack boxes have also had an immediate and positive impact. Snacks are offered during small‑group counseling sessions and individual check‑ins, especially for students who come to school hungry. Having food available helps students feel safe, cared for, and better able to focus on discussions and coping strategies. During one group session, students who were initially withdrawn became more engaged after receiving snacks—talking, sharing, and supporting one another once their basic needs were met.\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and appreciation. They were especially eager to participate in the shredding activity and asked when we could do it again. Many students expressed gratitude for the snacks, smiling and saying \"thank you\" or offering to help pass them out. These moments reinforced that the resources weren't just supplies—they were signals to students that their feelings, privacy, and well‑being truly matter.\r\nThanks to donor support, counseling sessions now feel more comforting, empowering, and effective, helping our students build emotional skills while feeling supported in both mind and body.","fullyFundedDate":1767241464696,"projectUrl":"project/shred-worries-hear-hope-share-snacks/9756594/","projectTitle":"Shred Worries, Hear Hope, Share Snacks","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Owens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6399763_orig.png?crop=864,864,x0,y86&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779130077528","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/nowens"},{"teacherId":10229036,"projectId":9868870,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our DonorsChoose project.
