Because of your generosity, our students have been able to move beyond simply learning about technology and begin using it as a tool to create, explore, and tell their own stories. Each week, students are learning real photography skills while using their cameras hands-on. They have practiced choosing a subject, experimenting with different angles and perspectives, moving around a subject to discover new ways of seeing it, and reflecting on their photographs. They are beginning to understand that taking a photograph is more than pointing a camera and pressing a button—it involves making intentional choices about what they want others to see.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts has been watching the students discover how differently they can photograph the same subject. During our photo missions, they eagerly move around our school with their cameras, comparing pictures, trying new ideas, and showing one another what they captured. The cameras have also created wonderful opportunities for collaboration. Students take turns, work with partners, discuss their photographs, and give each other \"Glow and Grow\" feedback about what worked well and what they might try differently next time. I have especially loved seeing students become more confident behind the camera and proud to share photographs that represent their own perspective.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students much more than a set of cameras. You have given them another way to communicate, create, problem-solve, and see the world around them. We are still early in our photography journey, and I am so excited to continue building their skills as we explore composition, filling the frame, zoom, light, visual storytelling, and eventually use their photographs to create digital projects. Having a variety of rich, authentic books in their hands allows students to see these techniques come alive in real stories. Instead of just learning definitions, they are discovering how authors use language to paint pictures, create emotion, and bring characters to life.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, these books open doors to imagination, creativity, and deeper understanding. They are already excited to explore new stories, identify literary elements, and discuss how authors craft their writing.
