We truly appreciate all that this amazing community has helped us accomplish for our Program Class students. This project helped us \"renew\" our school sensory room and give our students more items to help them self-regulate throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nMany of our students have learned self-regulating skills throughout their years in school, but as they continue to get older they are faced with different obstacles and may need new strategies. Our staff wanted to ensure a space that all of our students could access throughout the day if they needed a moment away from the classroom. The new sensory items such as the bubble lamp and fiber optic lights, can help reduces anxiety as these visuals tend to promote relaxation. We also love the flexible seating options donated to us such as the huge bean bag and foam puzzle flooring. Flexible seating options gives students the opportunity to pick what environment works best for them as not all students enjoy sitting in chairs.\r\n\r\nAs special education teachers we are always brainstorming ways that we can adapt and make accommodations to ensure our students are successful throughout the school day and then take these skills home with them. Our team has been able to provide more opportunities to our whole department this school year because of the amazing donors from donors choose. It takes a village to help ensure a great education for our students with different learning abilities.
