These tools have been a game-changer for our learning environment. With calculators in hand, students can tackle multi-step problems, focus on mathematical reasoning, and apply concepts to real-life situations like calculating discounts and interpreting data. Instead of getting stuck on simple computations, they are now able to dive deeper into problem-solving strategies with more confidence.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been the sense of independence. They no longer need to borrow or share calculators, which has created a smoother routine and more focused learning time. One student, who used to feel overwhelmed during practice sessions, now participates regularly and even helps peers check their work. The calculator holder has helped us stay organized, and the students take pride in caring for the tools you helped provide. Your support has made a lasting impact on their confidence and success, and we are truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1755619658355,"projectUrl":"project/count-on-us-empowering-7th-graders-with/9489956/","projectTitle":"Count on Us: Empowering 7th Graders with Calculators for Confidence","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shaina Bryant","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3203968_orig.png?crop=395,396,x0,y69&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730933524985","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bryantsroom"},{"teacherId":10082969,"projectId":9474973,"letterContent":"When our new classroom resources arrived, my students' excitement was contagious! The floor cushions, clipboards, and headphones immediately became part of our daily routine, helping transform our classroom into the flexible, comfortable learning space we had imagined together.\r\n\r\nThe floor cushions have become a favorite during small group SEL lessons and collaborative science activities. Students love gathering in circles on the floor for discussions or brainstorming sessions—it's amazing how a simple change in seating can make students more relaxed, talkative, and connected.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have been another huge hit. My students use them to participate in virtual lab simulations and video lessons, and during independent work time, many use them to listen to calming lo-fi beats to help focus. For some of my more easily distracted learners, the headphones have made a noticeable difference in concentration and productivity.\r\n\r\nThe clipboards are especially popular during experiments and hands-on labs. Students move around the room recording observations, collecting data, and sketching their results—just like real scientists! They love the freedom to work wherever they need to, without being tied to their desks.\r\n\r\nEven the vacuum has become a favorite classroom tool! Students have taken ownership of keeping our space tidy, using the Dirt Devil each afternoon to clean our circle area rug and learning zones. It's become part of our class routine—students volunteer to help, and they take real pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for everyone.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom feels more student-centered than ever. Students have taken greater ownership of their learning space and are making thoughtful choices about how and where they work best.","fullyFundedDate":1753921947728,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-cushions-and-clipboardsoh/9474973/","projectTitle":"Headphones, Cushions, and Clipboards—Oh My! Because of your donation, I was able to bring in a wide variety of engaging materials—printables, games, books, and technology resources—that are making a meaningful impact on my students every single day.\r\n\r\nIn our class, students are working at many different academic levels. Some are just beginning to recognize numbers within 20, while others are tackling more advanced concepts like multiplication and fractions. The materials you helped fund have allowed me to quickly and easily differentiate instruction, so every student can learn at their own pace and feel successful.\r\n\r\nThe games and activities have made learning feel fun and accessible. I've seen a huge increase in student engagement, and many of my students are now excited to practice skills they once found challenging. These resources have also made it possible for students to take their learning beyond the classroom—many of the materials can be printed and used at home, so families can be more involved in supporting their children's growth.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our classroom is a more dynamic, inclusive, and joyful place to learn. Your support has helped ensure that every student has what they need to succeed—and that makes all the difference.","fullyFundedDate":1645463516563,"projectUrl":"project/just-right-work-for-me/6228422/","projectTitle":"Just Right Work For Me!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Warren","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4605545_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1501730971790","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4605545"},{"teacherId":4609680,"projectId":8895929,"letterContent":"I want to express my sincere gratitude for your incredible support in providing our classroom with new books about healthy eating. These books have truly transformed our learning environment and opened up exciting new avenues for exploring important concepts. Many of you have a passion for reading, which we share, but may not be as familiar with how we use books as teaching tools. These texts have allowed us to introduce several key skills and lessons. We've been working on vocabulary development, learning new words related to nutrition, food groups, and healthy habits. The books have also sparked engaging discussions about making healthy choices and understanding the impact of food on our bodies. We've used the texts to practice comparing and contrasting different foods, sequencing the steps in preparing a healthy meal, and even using text features like diagrams and charts to understand complex information in a more visual way. These activities are building essential reading comprehension skills while also fostering a lifelong appreciation for healthy living.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is a dynamic and interactive experience. We engage in shared reading, where we read aloud together as a class, discussing the text and making connections to our own lives. We also have independent reading time, where students choose books that interest them and read at their own pace. During this time, I confer with individual students, providing personalized support and guidance. The new healthy eating books have been a huge hit during both shared and independent reading. I've noticed a significant increase in student engagement and enthusiasm, especially during our discussions about the books. Students are eager to share their own experiences with food and ask thoughtful questions about the information they're learning. It's truly rewarding to see them making connections between the books and their own lives.\r\n\r\nI've observed a few students in particular who have really connected with these new books. One student, who previously struggled with reading comprehension, has become much more engaged during reading time, actively participating in discussions and even choosing to read the healthy eating books during free time. He's now able to explain the different food groups and the importance of balanced meals. Another student, who is a very picky eater, has started showing more interest in trying new healthy foods after reading about them in the books. They're now more open to trying new fruits and vegetables. These are just a few examples of the positive impact your generosity has had on our students. Thank you again for your support in making this project a reality. It's truly making a difference in their lives.","fullyFundedDate":1730569280235,"projectUrl":"project/nourishing-minds-exploring-healthy-eati/8895929/","projectTitle":"Nourishing Minds: Exploring Healthy Eating","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Urgent","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4609680_orig.png?crop=440,439,x0,y17&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691945102813","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-urgent"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_108352","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":321,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":77,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":90,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.1,"schoolId":108352,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kindezi School Old Fourth Ward on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kindezi School Old Fourth Ward","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/atlanta-public-schools/kindezi-school-at-old-fourth-ward-opens-aug-2015/108352"}
