For example, during a recent reading comprehension unit, students worked in small groups to analyze passages, answer text-dependent questions, and track their progress. As groups met their goals, they earned points toward a class slushie celebration. One memorable moment was watching students encourage one another to reread passages carefully and explain their thinking so the entire group could succeed. When they reached their goal and celebrated together, it was clear that the reward had strengthened both their academic focus and teamwork.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the slushie machine, their excitement was unmatched. They were eager, curious, and immediately began asking how they could earn the opportunity to use it. This enthusiasm quickly transformed into motivation—students became more engaged in lessons, more willing to participate, and more focused on meeting expectations. It truly set a positive tone in the classroom and gave students something tangible to work toward, making learning even more meaningful and fun.","fullyFundedDate":1770669807237,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-fun-friday/10089397/","projectTitle":"Fueling Fun Friday","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. NEWMON","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3004227_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1454065574718","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3004227"},{"teacherId":2056540,"projectId":9115906,"letterContent":"This project has greatly impacted my new students this year already in just 7 short weeks. It has helped them in moments of dysregulation by allowing them a safe and interactive space to calm and process their emotions. They have also been able to use the space to explore with friends and get the sensory input they need throughout the day. This project makes learning so much more achievable for our students. We will be incorporating more regulation strategies throughout the year and cannot be more grateful to the donors for this project.
