The addition of a bass guitar and amplifier has expanded the range of sound and texture we can explore together. Students are learning how the bass supports a group's rhythm and harmony, and they've been thrilled to take turns playing it alongside xylophones, drums, and voices. It's helping them understand how all the musical parts fit together, making our classroom ensembles feel more like a real performing band.\r\n\r\nThe new mallets have been a huge upgrade from our old, worn ones. They produce a clearer tone and allow the students to play more expressively and confidently on their Orff instruments. Our stage lights have added a sense of excitement and creativity to every class — especially when we turn them on for our favorite seasonal game, \"Pass the Pumpkin.\" The lights create a fun, performance-like atmosphere that motivates students to participate and take pride in their musical work.\r\n\r\nOverall, this project has elevated both the sound and the spirit of our classroom. My students are more engaged, more curious, and more eager to make music together. Your support has not only provided new tools but has also inspired a deeper love of music that will continue to grow all year long.","fullyFundedDate":1759231984928,"projectUrl":"project/all-about-that-bass/9674357/","projectTitle":"All About That Bass!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Price","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6139568_orig.png?crop=693,693,x623,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1652211391887","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6139568"},{"teacherId":1622521,"projectId":9323818,"letterContent":"THANK YOU for your generous donation to my classroom in support of our 8th Grade Leadership Program. Your contribution is making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students. This program goes beyond teaching leadership skills—it empowers students to put those skills into action. From volunteering with teachers and mentoring peers to leading school tours and championing our \"No Child Eats Alone\" initiative, our student leaders are actively shaping a more inclusive and supportive school environment. They also play a vital role in organizing and supporting school-wide events and initiatives, all with the goal of fostering a positive and connected school culture. Your donation of art supplies has been instrumental in helping us achieve these goals. Our students use these materials to create projects that promote kindness, celebrate diversity, and encourage unity. Whether it's through posters, campaigns, or collaborative art, your support is helping them spread powerful messages of compassion and belonging. Once again, thank you for your generosity. While studying this ancient game of logic and strategy, it occurred to me that in our fast-paced, technology-saturated world, students would benefit from the true social interaction that board games provide. What if I offer chess matches as a social reward day incentive for my band students? By adding some instrumental smooth jazz and snacks to the relaxed but competitive setting, chess days have become a huge hit!\r\n\r\nThis social time together has been valuable for creating the community atmosphere that fuels a thriving band program. On game days the students are excited to team up and play! The experienced players enjoy coaching the novice players. The lessons learned through playing chess are far reaching and applicable to daily life in so many ways.... consequences of actions, thinking ahead, slowing down, thinking logically, making non-impulsive decisions, to name a few!\r\n\r\nThe chess-specific stickers are a big hit and are awarded to each winner.
