Because of donations like these, my freshman English classes have shown incredible growth this year. Our classes earned the highest reading score gains of all 9th grade English classes, and on our final district benchmark before the statewide assessment, my students achieved the highest scores in every benchmark category across the entire district.\r\n\r\nThese results are not just about test preparation—they are about creating real readers. When students have access to engaging novels and meaningful texts, they build reading stamina, strengthen comprehension skills, and begin to see reading as something enjoyable rather than just another assignment. Books allow students to connect emotionally with characters, practice empathy, and participate in deeper classroom discussions that make learning memorable.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is active and alive. Students analyze, question, discuss, and reflect in ways that help them grow both academically and personally. Donations like these make that possible. They help transform reluctant readers into confident ones, increase student interest and motivation, and ultimately lead to stronger academic performance—including better test scores.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a measurable difference, and more importantly, it has helped students discover the power of literacy. Thank you for investing in their success and helping us continue building a classroom where reading truly matters.","fullyFundedDate":1770078765740,"projectUrl":"project/seeing-the-world-through-charlies-eyes/9947172/","projectTitle":"Seeing the World Through Charlie’s Eyes with Literacy & Empathy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bogie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10375912"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_47116","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2641,"numTeachers":129,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.1,"schoolId":47116,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Riverview High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Riverview High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/sarasota-county-school-district/riverview-high-school/47116"}
