One area of my class that desperately needed an upgrade was student books. We tend to use a lot of board books as they are sturdy for my students. Since we are just beginning to learning how to take care of books, the board books tend to stand up better to rough handling. \r\n\r\nI have really been trying to incorporate more math learning activities into our day so adding in math books to the student book center was a great way to do that. This project has really made a difference in my classroom. We work a lot on developing social skills and turn taking skills. The best way we practice these skills is through play based activities. We use games to build those skills while also having fun. These games also help develop fine motor skills which are very important pre-writing skills. \r\n\r\nMy students really enjoyed the new games that you helped provide to them. They really liked the Ruby's Gem Quest game and wanted to play it several days during small group learning. Early literacy is a huge passion of mine and I try to incorporate as many skills as I can into my classroom. \r\n\r\nMy students love books and listening to them being read to them. One thing that I was lacking in my classroom was more non-fiction books. I only had a handful before this project. Finding non-fiction books that are simple and on my student level is difficult. This book series is great because the pictures are simple and not too overwhelming for my students. The information is great and to the point without too many wordy pages. These will be fantastic to use in my classroom for many years to come.
