The three new laptops have been a great addition and aid to our robotics club. The laptops have not only been helpful in the construction of the bot, making a smoother design and coding process, but also have been used outside of just the bot in many ways. One of the ways the students used them was to make their engineering portfolios, which is a 15 page portfolio describing everything they did throughout this robotics season, from building to coding to outreach. Another way the students used the laptops was for judging multiple times throughout the season. FTC Robotics teams must go on zoom calls 2-4 times a season to answer judging questions that impact what awards they win and if they proceed in the season. The laptops were perfect for these zoom meetings!\r\n\r\nThe laptops have helped so much that we actually got one of our three teams- 15006- to our state competition. The laptops continued to be used throughout the state competition, helping with any and all last-minute fixes and changes we needed during it.\r\n\r\nEveryone greatly appreciated the laptops, but our coders and new students really utilized them the most! Our coders used the new laptops all the time since we had received them, both at the school and during competitions. The new laptops have also given a great chance to teach our new students important skills like CAD and programming!","fullyFundedDate":1764730697289,"projectUrl":"project/laptops-for-robotics-club/9711258/","projectTitle":"Laptops for Robotics Club","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Lovelady","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10259022"},{"teacherId":10071379,"projectId":9447293,"letterContent":"A simple \"thank you\" does not seem sufficient for the impact your generous donation has had on our students. When the smartboard arrived, excitement spread instantly through our theatre department. Our plant operators kindly offered to assemble it, but my technical theatre students eagerly asked to take on the task themselves as a class project. Word traveled quickly, and soon students from across the theatre program showed up to help—it truly became a family affair.\r\n\r\nOnce the smartboard was assembled, we immediately began exploring the preloaded applications, and this is where our expectations were truly exceeded. One application allowed us to use a graph grid to plan the framework for building a newspaper stand. The program automatically scaled measurements, helping students determine exactly how much wood needed to be cut. While some students designed the structure on the board, others cut and assembled the walls and base. The large screen allowed everyone to view the mock-up in real time as the project came to life. It was incredible to witness and this was only day two with the smartboard.\r\n\r\nIn the short time we have had it, the smartboard has already become an essential classroom tool. A built-in timer, easily visible to my musical theatre class of 60 students, has been invaluable during improv activities. We are also able to project classwork clearly for independent assignments, increasing focus and engagement.\r\n\r\nWe have only just begun to discover all that this smartboard has to offer, and my students and I are excited to continue exploring the many ways it will support creativity, collaboration, and learning. Your contribution has far exceeded our expectations, and we are deeply grateful for your generosity and support.\r\n\r\nWith deepest gratitude,\r\nMrs. McGowan\r\nand the students of the\r\nHollins High School Theatre Department","fullyFundedDate":1764732458491,"projectUrl":"project/technology-for-the-theatre/9447293/","projectTitle":"Technology for the theatre!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mcgowan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10071379_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y272&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754218124606","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10071379"},{"teacherId":308638,"projectId":9798723,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our grant. They have helped to increase numbers as many of our older volleyballs are fairly worn. As both the school's girls and boys programs use these, we need to replace them fairly regularly.
