As an OT working with students in pre-K through 5th grade in both Gen. Ed and self-contained classrooms, I see every day just how meaningful the right tools can be.\r\nBecause of your generosity I was able to bring in materials such as laminated supplies, cardstock, Velcro, and task boxes to create adaptive books, visual supports, and structured learning activities for both the classroom and therapy sessions. These materials allow me to design hands on, individualized supports that help students better understand expectations, engage in learning, and build independence across their school day.\r\n\r\nThese resources have already made a powerful impact. One of my students, who often struggles to follow teacher directions and stay engaged, was able to successfully complete a task box activity by matching and placing items with clear visual support. With the structure and simplicity of the task, this student remained engaged and followed through with the direction.\r\n\r\nThe adaptive books created with these materials have also been incredibly meaningful. Students are not only practicing visual tracking and scanning across the pages, but they are also using the story visuals to locate and identify matching items on their AAC devices. This supports both their visual attention and their communication skills, helping them make connections between what they see, what they understand, and how they express themselves. \r\n\r\nAnother important aspect of these materials is their durability and longevity. The laminated visuals, adaptive books, and task boxes can be reused year after year and shared across multiple classrooms, allowing many students to benefit from your generosity over time.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly helped remove barriers and create opportunities for my students to feel capable, confident, and successful. I am so grateful for your kindness and for believing in my students and the work we do every day.","fullyFundedDate":1771026851557,"projectUrl":"project/adaptive-learning-tools-for-every-learne/10066158/","projectTitle":"Adaptive Learning Tools for Every Learner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Novak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10404266"},{"teacherId":9115221,"projectId":9309896,"letterContent":"My students have been using the new animal-themed incentives and treasure box every single day, and the impact has been immediate. We've incorporated the animals into both behavior goals and our science lessons—for example, students earn time to interact with a specific animal after completing tasks, and we use those same animals during lessons on habitats, traits, and care. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who typically struggles to stay engaged complete an entire assignment independently just to earn time with a new animal, then proudly share facts they remembered during our lesson.\r\nWhen the materials were first introduced, their excitement was incredible. Many of my students thrive on hands-on and highly motivating experiences, and seeing new animals and the treasure box sparked curiosity, joy, and a willingness to participate. Even students who are usually hesitant became more eager to join activities, follow routines, and stay focused throughout the day.\r\nMoving forward, we are building on this momentum by expanding our science connections and continuing to reinforce positive behaviors through these incentives. Students are beginning to take more ownership of their goals, tracking their progress toward earning rewards at the end of the week. These resources are not only making learning more engaging, but also helping my students develop independence, communication skills, and confidence in a way that feels meaningful and fun.","fullyFundedDate":1746785919706,"projectUrl":"project/work-incentives-for-my-asd-kiddos/9309896/","projectTitle":"Work Incentives for My ASD Kiddos","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dunning","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9115221_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695940441361","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9115221"},{"teacherId":9803350,"projectId":9663980,"letterContent":"From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for your generous donation and express what it means to my me and students. As a school Speech Language Pathologist, I work with many students who are nonverbal or limited verbal communicators. These students can still be taught how to communicate, they just require Augmentative and Alternative approaches to how we generally communicate. A lot of these students use pictures to communicate but without the speech generating feature, many of their messages are not seen or heard by others. However, when you pair the visual with the speech output capabilities, now they have an effective and reliable means of communicating. These QuickTalkers truly give these children a voice!\r\nThey have a desire to connect with others, and you've given them a means of doing so. Without these devices, these students would probably be sitting in silence, with no one ever knowing all that they have to say. With their devices in hand, these children can request what they need and want, answer questions, say hello/goodbye to friends, and demonstrate what they know to their teachers and peers. You've truly enriched the lives of these children and I'm so fortunate that there's people in the world like you.","fullyFundedDate":1760622560092,"projectUrl":"project/helping-nonverbal-children-communicate/9663980/","projectTitle":"Helping nonverbal children communicate!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wilson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9803350"},{"teacherId":4497119,"projectId":9581794,"letterContent":"Thank you again so much for providing for my classes. The addition of the four benches you funded have provided my students with a comfortable spot to relax and talk with friends. In addition to some newly added picnic tables, the benches provide the students with a place to sit on the nice days we sit outside to work. The benches have quickly become a favorite spot for our learners.
