Many are new to the country and need extra support to understand what they read and to share their ideas in writing. These materials have helped create a classroom where students feel encouraged, supported, and comfortable trying new things with English.\r\n\r\nThe Spanish–English dictionaries are used daily during reading and writing lessons to help students understand new words and phrases. This has improved comprehension and allowed students to write more clearly and with greater confidence. The chart paper has also been valuable, giving students a space to work together, brainstorm, and visually organize their ideas.
