They were so ready for fun Friday, so they could choose the first one to put together. Once they decided on putting the solar one together, they raced their cars to see which one goes faster. To see the excitement on their faces made it worth it. \r\nThe wind car was challenging because the wind wasn't blowing. One of the students suggested using a fan to represent wind, and it worked very well. I allowed them to choose how they wanted to dress for the teatime, and of course they had mixed feelings about what to wear. We used this teatime as an end of the year celebration for their hard work as well as moving on the next chapter of the life.\r\nWhen they seen the materials, they were excited because some stated they had never seen a real tea set before. I was just as excited to see their faces and to be able to give them a gift that would last a lifetime. \r\nWe were able to sit, chat, and sip.\r\nI really thank you for allowing me to give the gift of making memories with my students. The girls really enjoyed reading them during our meetings. They were able to see how the book related to certain aspects of their lives.\r\nI allowed them to choose how we would read the book. They agreed to each take a chapter to lead, come up with their own questions, and then present during group. Some of them drew pictures or illustrations to help with their discussion. There were about three students I caught reading the book during their lunch times. I would see them walking through halls with their heads buried in the book. \r\nI was worried at first, but it seems that the book was definitely a great choice for them. They worked with each other to make sure that everyone's robot worked properly.\r\nTo see my students use their scientific skills to keep figuring out how to make the robot move around on the paper was mind blowing. The Girls of Distinction looked very nice in their pink shirts.\r\nThey make sure to dress out every Wednesday with their pink shirts and black bottoms. Having them in their uniform, sets them apart from the other students, and make them feel like the leaders they are.\r\nThe girls were excited to try the shirts on, they helped each other picked the correct sizes so they can look like professionals. \r\nThe first time they wore them, we did an etiquette class, they had to first match items on the table, then they set up and actual table. The students were able to have fresh clean water daily. The snacks that were provided, were great. The students are usually hungry due to the fact they go to breakfast and lunch early in the morning with some students not having neither, having snacks with water curbs their hunger. Being that most of our students don't have the means or funds to bring extra food, having snacks in the in office when needed has been beneficial.\r\n\r\nThe students here at North Miami Middle students were so excited to see an abundance of snacks and water.
