Your donation also allowed us to get the paper we needed for a large wall painting project. These materials may seem simple, but they make a huge difference in allowing students to actively participate in decorating our school and expressing their creativity. \r\nOur 20-year-long Spirit Week tradition is as unique and creative as our New World School of the Arts community. It begins with a large Spirit Assembly, where every student shows off their class color through apparel, face paint, and loud accessories. This Friday assembly is the big reveal of our Spirit Week theme for the overall school and each individual grade. For example, this year's overall theme is Elevation, and the four class themes are \"Entertainment\" (Seniors), \"Mechanics\" (Juniors), \"Space\" (Sophomores), and \"Literature\" (Freshmen). Once these themes are announced, the competition has begun. \r\nThe first and largest competition is our wall-painting event. Students work together over the weekend to create artwork and assemble designs that represent their assigned theme. By next Monday, the 3rd floor will be transformed. Each hallway becomes a portal into a new universe. \r\nThis is where your generous donation made the most impact. With the new abundance of materials, this activity became more accessible, attainable, and fun. When students first saw the materials, they were excited to start creating and collaborating. Groups gathered around tables to brainstorm ideas, cut out designs, paint, and carefully staple their finished work onto the Spirit Week walls. The supplies made it possible for everyone to participate and contribute their ideas. Watching the blank walls transform into colorful displays filled with student artwork created a sense of pride and unity throughout the school. Students and teachers stop in the hallways to admire the displays and point out pieces that their friends had made. \r\nThanks to your support, our Spirit Week became more than just a themed celebration—it became an opportunity for students to connect with each other through creativity and school spirit. The wall painting project especially allowed students to work together on something larger than themselves and leave a lasting mark on the school. Moving forward, we will continue using these materials for future Spirit Weeks and creative projects that bring students together. Your generosity helped give students the tools they needed to turn their ideas into something visible and meaningful, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1765229457399,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-strong-sense-of-community-thr/9652007/","projectTitle":"Building a Strong Sense of Community Through Art!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cardona","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10225020_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y440&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756217829921","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10225020"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53770","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":451,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":59,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.6,"schoolId":53770,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about New World School of the Arts on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"New World School of the Arts","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/new-world-school-of-the-arts/53770"}
