The donations you gave to my project helped my students in so many ways. As a result of acquiring these tools, my students demonstrated improved behaviors almost immediately. \r\nThe Montessori toys were a big hit! They were an exceptional tool in assisting some of my students with their fine motor skills. My students with fine motor delays were using their fingertips to hold and move small items. They also proved valuable is assessing my non-verbal students. The weighted blankets were put to much use during calm corner moments or when a student just needed to feel secure. The buzzers have been used to provide a method of communication for my students with language delays. Students were attempting to communicate through the use of the buzzers to make requests for everyday needs or items, as well as for giving responses for assessments. \r\nThe screen dividers were a Godsend! They allowed me to define multiple spaces in our classroom providing a sense of security within our large room. I was able to create a space for computer use, as well as a space to work with students one-to-one with minimal distractions. As a result, transitioning from station to station became smoother.\r\nAnd lastly, the 2-cube shelf provided some needed space for backpacks. I was beyond words and in disbelief that anyone would care enough to fund this project to support my students. My paraprofessionals and I were so excited and, once all the dividers and furniture pieces arrived, they were built and put into place immediately. It made such a big difference! \r\nThe dividers are wonderful for defining the spaces in the room and minimizing distractions for my students. I created a computer area, an arts and crafts area, a play area, and a small group area. I use the small group and computer area daily because it really helps my students focus on the activity they are working on. We use the play area as a reward station or when indoor recess is necessary. The arts and crafts area is so organized. Our materials are easier to find and the students know where to go to create their masterpieces. I was also able to use one of the furniture pieces to, not only make diaper changing more efficient, but we can also keep a change of clothes for each student in the cubbies, so they do not have to keep them in their backpack and lug it around everyday. \r\nWe noticed that the students are calmer, are eloping less frequently, and are moving around the room during transitions more appropriately. I know my students now feel much more secure in their space. It would have been a very difficult year for my students without these resources. Thank you again for your generousity and support.
