The reality is that with a teacher's salary there is only so much I can give my students. I've been teaching for 23 years, and I have never participated in Donors Choose. To be honest, I thought it would be time consuming and probably would never be chosen. Oh boy, was I wrong! This past summer I attended a workshop where they explained how Donor Choose worked and many teachers shared how their projects were funded. I thought, let me give it a shot and I am so happy I did!\r\n\r\nMy students and I are over the moon with all the items that were donated! Our class flows better, it is more organized, has flexible seating, a teacher station, and a mobile desk complete with wireless keyboard and mouse! Now we have a classroom fit for the 21st century where my students feel empowered to think critically, collaborate actively, engage in learning that's meaningful, modern and fun! I thank you all for making that happen. I could not have done it without you generosity and support!\r\n\r\nPlease know that all items are used daily if not multiple times a day. The mobile teacher desk is by far my favorite along with the wireless keyboard and mouse. It provides me with the freedom to teach from anywhere in my classroom. Sometimes I use it as a podium, other times I use it to model a science experiment, and other times I use it to collaborate with my students during group projects. My students really enjoy the portable lap desks and the collapsible folding wagon. The desks have many uses. Some include providing preferential seating, copying from the board, drawing and coloring during recess and so much more. The folding wagon is used to store all P.E. equipment. It is also easy for my students to transport the P.E. equipment to our play area daily.\r\n\r\nI really hope that the pictures I submitted show you what a difference you have made in my classroom and will continue to make. The possibilities are endless of what we will accomplish next. Thank you for teaching me that I do not have to do it alone because there are still people out there that value teachers, education and learning just as much as I do!","fullyFundedDate":1757272400397,"projectUrl":"project/1st-grade-rocks-with-21st-century-learn/9436326/","projectTitle":"1st Grade Rocks With 21st-Century Learning Tools!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Silveira","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10065234_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751006285728","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10065234"},{"teacherId":4875223,"projectId":6373000,"letterContent":"When our new light table arrived, my Pre-K students were absolutely thrilled! Their eyes lit up with wonder as they saw the glowing surface for the first time. It was like magic to them — they couldn't wait to touch it, explore it, and start learning with it. They immediately gathered around, experimenting with translucent shapes, letters, and numbers. It was incredible to see how something so simple could spark so much excitement and curiosity.\r\n\r\nSince then, the light table has become a daily part of our classroom experience. One project that really stood out was when we used colored gel shapes to build patterns and create simple mosaics. Not only did this support early math and fine motor skills, but it also gave students a creative outlet to express themselves. We've also incorporated it into literacy activities by tracing letters and exploring the alphabet in a hands-on way. The light adds an extra layer of engagement that truly draws them in and keeps them focused.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're planning a unit on the seasons, and the light table will play a key role in helping us explore colors and natural materials like leaves and petals. It's already inspired a new level of sensory learning in our classroom, and I can't thank you enough for making this possible. Your generosity has made a real difference in how my students explore and engage with the world around them!","fullyFundedDate":1650584336316,"projectUrl":"project/light-table-provocation/6373000/","projectTitle":"Light Table Provocation","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Cabrera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4875223_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1515523152749","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4875223"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45824","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":782,"numTeachers":76,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.2,"schoolId":45824,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Coral Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Coral Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/coral-park-elementary-school/45824"}
