We wanted to reinforce characterization in reading and also how we can find the theme or lesson of a story by looking at the characterization (how characters change throughout the story).\r\nI assigned the students to a task, they had to describe their own character and then we generated their characters which are now on display. As a teacher, my number one priority is to provide my students with the best possible learning experience possible. One the positive impact I want to achieve every school year is to give my students an environment where they feel love, welcome, support and most important seen. In my second year of teaching, I have learned students work better when their environment is welcoming and organized. \r\n\r\nWhen I first receive the items, my students were thrilled to see what was inside the box, they cheer and clapped as we open each box together. They light up knowing these items were meant for them and they were able to use them on a daily basis. Students feel motivated to take care of the donated items and they take good care of them. Students also felt gratitude when they saw food was donated. Students are aware if they ever feel hungry or missed breakfast they are able to get something from the food bins in the classroom.\r\n\r\nWe use all the resources daily in the classroom, students use the pillows to read during independent time. Students use the cleaning wipes when we are working on phonics, and they have the opportunity to write on their desk. The treasure box items are used for incentive for good behavior and when they do their job for the week. I believe no students should go hungry and I have open up food bin to all the second-grade classes. The bins donated have allow us to keep our daily work organized! \r\n\r\nThis has been wonderful experience for my students. They appreciate and value what was given in this project. This project will continue to not only impact this school year, but also future students!\r\n\r\nThank you again for all the wonderful items!","fullyFundedDate":1758295865402,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-classroom-to-have-a-welcoming-e/9473721/","projectTitle":"Help Our Classroom to Have a Welcoming Environment!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morales","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3582808"},{"teacherId":9646703,"projectId":8985485,"letterContent":"First of all, thank you! The students in my classroom were able to share and enjoy experiences together while preparing for testing and throughout chilly winter days here in Florida. The students felt grateful and were very excited about the items and generous gifts they received. They were genuinely surprised and couldnt believe it! They were all curious when the packages arrived with the Donors Choose tag. We got to unbox the items together and it was a really fun activity together. We were able to celebrate them in the cafeteria along with their peers. \r\nI still have some of the gifts you sent us for this next school year, and I will make sure that the new classroom knows the items were sent to us from very generous and thoughtful donors.","fullyFundedDate":1741099895683,"projectUrl":"project/a-warm-and-well-deserved-christmas-treat/8985485/","projectTitle":"A Warm and Well Deserved Christmas Treat for All!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Poveda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9646703"},{"teacherId":9642262,"projectId":9074276,"letterContent":"First, I would like to thank you for choosing to donate to schools, and most of all to the arts! The buckets have been decorated with the school colors (black and red) and display the words \"Witter Wildcats\" after our mascot. In March, a select number of students, who were chosen based on their audition at the beginning of the year, formed the first Bucket Drumming Ensemble and performed in the school's spring show. After about 6 rehearsals, they performed on stage to over 100 people including family, staff, and members of the community. \r\n When they first saw the finished drums, they screamed with excitement. We see our classes about 1-2 times a week for 60 minutes. For their 60 minutes all they wanted to do was play the new drums! They've been exploring new rhythms, drum circles that give them the opportunity to improvise and play together. \r\n Next year we plan to explore more performing opportunities with this ensemble and more chances for students to use these in class.
