The difference has been truly remarkable!\r\n * Increased Focus and Engagement: Students are more alert and engaged in learning. We've noticed a significant decrease in afternoon slumps, allowing for more productive learning time.\r\n * Improved Behavior: Providing regular snacks has helped to reduce instances of classroom disruptions caused by hunger. Students are happier and more cooperative when their basic needs are met.\r\n * Enhanced Social-Emotional Learning: Snack time has become a valuable social interaction opportunity. Students learn to share, cooperate, and build positive relationships with their peers.\r\nOne particularly memorable moment occurred during our recent \"All About Me\" unit. After enjoying a healthy snack of fruit and yogurt, students were eager to share their favorite foods and family recipes. This sparked lively discussions about different cultures and family traditions, creating a warm and inclusive classroom environment.\r\nCurrently, our students are working on a collaborative project to create a class cookbook featuring their favorite healthy snacks. They are researching recipes, drawing illustrations, and practicing their writing skills to compile this exciting project. We plan to share the cookbook with other classrooms and even with our families at our upcoming \"Family Fun Night.\"\r\nYour support has made a profound impact on the lives of my students, and we are incredibly grateful for your generosity. I have always felt very passionate about social and emotional learning and how to incorporate it into my classroom. Understanding feelings are hard for younger students to understand. Often unknowing or misunderstanding feelings leads to bigger feelings or anger. My goal is to help my students navigate their feelings and emotions by using these Spot books.\r\n\r\n Since Covid, I have noticed a decline in social skills and understanding how actions impact feelings. Many students are unaware of how their actions might affect how someone feels. I am hoping that by using these resources, my students will connect actions to feelings so that they will be able to respond in an appropriate manner and interact positively with peers and adults. \r\n\r\n When I presented the first lesson to my students, they were confused about what exactly we were doing at first. It wasn't regular curriculum that I was teaching, but rather it was presented in a fun and engaging way. Each feeling was assigned a color and they were connecting it to the new Inside Out 2 movie. When brainstorming describing words, they came up with some really good ones and we created a chart with their own thoughts and some words from the books. Our chart is currently hanging in our classroom and they often reference it by asking \"Are you feeling blue (sad) today?\" or \"Is your heart feeling pink (love) today?\" It puts a smile on my face to hear them asking others about how they are feeling and putting our learning into action.\r\n\r\n I am looking forward to introducing many more lessons throughout the year and watching my students gain social skills that are so important nowadays!
