Now I have gotten the sizes for all my students and almost have their shirts finished just in time for their first major assessments approaching at the beginning of October. I have realized that this year I have several students with testing anxiety and have talked to them about their shirts and the joy they have in this new idea. This is going to bring them something to look forward to when it is a testing day rather than the anxiety that they are filling. \r\n\r\nI cannot wait to see the joy in each student as they set personal goals and make their growth to show on their personal shirts. It is something that they will have to remember that even if testing does not go their way all the time they still are able to reach their goals. My students love having a comfortable space where we can come together as a class, share ideas, and learn from one another.\r\n\r\nThe rug has also helped make our classroom routines more engaging and purposeful. Whether we are gathering to introduce a new lesson, discussing a story, practicing a new skill, or celebrating something we accomplished together, having a designated gathering space helps my students know when it is time to listen, participate, and connect. My students are learning to recognize their emotions and choose strategies that work best for them. We have been using them every day throughout the week. The students cheer and clapped when we opens the boxes together. \r\n\r\nThese iPads have been so beneficial to my students. We use our iPads for \"listen to reading\" time. Students get to listen to stories being read to them on a website called MyOn. It's an online library that reads fiction and nonfictions books to my students to help build their love reading and have unlimited access to books.\r\n\r\nStudents also love to use the iPads to post pictures of their work on an app called Seesaw to show their parents work they are proud of. \r\n\r\nTheir favorite time of the day is when we use our iPads during our reading and math centers. We have been able to use the iPads for QR code readers to work on phonics and addition/subtractions in math.
