My class spends about 50% of their day on the carpet. The colors and letters provide a spot, where each child can be called to the carpet, based on concepts they are working on. Children can come to the carpet by color, letter, sound, shape, etc. The letters provide opportunities for letter recognition, letter-sound correspondence, as well as color and shape recognition, which are concepts they must master by the end of the year. This carpet will help all students learn their letters and sounds, in a fun and organized way. It will also provide a daily gathering spot for our learning activities and and be big enough to fit all the students comfortably. In addition to being small for 30 students, the current carpet is over 10 years old and in desperate need of replacement. You can just imagine what it's been through over the years. We would love to have a new and clean place to come together as a class.
