Your support has transformed our classroom environment, and my students and I are beyond grateful for these wonderful new resources.\r\n\r\nPure Joy and Excitement\r\nWhen the boxes arrived and my students saw what was inside, their faces lit up! They were so excited to see the vibrant spinning library, the crisp new clipboards, and the slick dry-erase adhesive paper. There were audible gasps and eager chatter as they realized these materials were meant just for them. Seeing their faces beaming with pride was unforgettable—they immediately felt valued, supported, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nPutting Our New Tools to Work\r\nThese resources have completely reshaped how we navigate our daily routines, write, and read:\r\n\r\nWriting Binders: We use these to continuously refine our work across the entire writing process. As we learn new concepts, students go back into their binders to upgrade previously written sentences, reading responses, and narratives.\r\n\r\nOrganization & Preservation: The book bins and plastic folders give my students a safe, organized home for their reading materials, helping us preserve our classroom library for years to come.\r\n\r\nInteractive Learning & Movement: The whiteboard and dry-erase adhesive paper create interactive spaces around the room where students love sharing their independent learning and discoveries. Plus, the clipboards have been a total game-changer—allowing students to move around the room for partner work, engaging in active movement and rich, accountable talk with their peers.\r\n\r\nA Favorite Classroom Moment\r\nThe absolute highlight has been introducing the spinning library! We use it to host a year-long book competition that has completely energized our reading culture. Recently, I watched two students pull matching books from the shelf, grab their clipboards, and settle onto the floor together. They spent the entire period eagerly reading, analyzing, and evaluating the text side-by-side so they could vote on it for the competition. The sheer enthusiasm for reading that this spinning shelf has sparked is magical to watch.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom community. They were wrapped in book- and back-to-school-themed wrapping paper. Students passed around the presents, felt the weight, and made predictions, what they thought might be in the boxes, and more specifically, which books. \r\nOnce the presents were opened, they were passed among the group members, students adding books that looked interesting to their \"Books I Want to Read\" lists. I asked why they think I wrapped them up instead of just putting them on the classroom shelves. This led to a discussion about how books are gifts and how gifts are treated. \r\nThe students have been reading the books like crazy, and many of the books have a waiting list. Students are taking AR quizzes and are excited about reading - sharing books they liked and making book recommendations. Some of the books have multiple copies, so the students really enjoy reading them with a partner and discussing the characters and plots with each other. This has done wonders for increasing their communication abilities, especially when they make a claim about the book and then back it up with evidence and examples from the book.","fullyFundedDate":1778261847745,"projectUrl":"project/the-literacy-hook-high-interest-books-f/10272864/","projectTitle":"The Literacy Hook: High-Interest Books for High-Stakes Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4466975_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1495914526115","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4466975"},{"teacherId":7949157,"projectId":10215526,"letterContent":"I am overwhelmed by your generosity and support for our \"Adventures in Audio\" project! The colorful cardstock, sentence strips, and crayons you helped provide have been used in so many ways—from creating name tags and classroom labels to illustrating stories and making bright, beautiful art projects that fill our walls.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite moments was during a writing activity where students used the new sentence strips to write about what they want to be when they grow up. They proudly decorated their sentences with the crayons you provided, and seeing their words and drawings displayed around the room brought the biggest smiles!\r\n\r\nWhen the new materials first arrived, my students' eyes lit up. They were so excited to see all the colors and explore the new books. The nonfiction titles and On Strike read-alouds have quickly become class favorites—students love choosing a new book during independent reading time and sharing fun facts with their friends.\r\n\r\nThe new storage solutions have made a huge difference, too! With our drawer carts and caddies, students now know exactly where to find (and return) supplies, which has built their independence and responsibility. Our classroom feels more organized and peaceful, which allows us to spend more time learning and creating.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be using these resources during our upcoming writing and art unit, where students will make their very own \"All About Me\" books using the colorful paper and supplies you helped us get. These projects help them practice writing, storytelling, and fine motor skills—all while celebrating what makes them special.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a bright, welcoming, and organized classroom where my kindergarteners can learn, explore, and grow every day.
