The students are going to love walking around the room working on these white boards instead of sitting at a desk with a whiteboard. This is a great way to get the students engaged in their learning. At the present time they work on little whiteboards at their desk. Studies have shown from a book study I am doing with my district leader that student engagement increases dramatically when students are up and engaged in groups work on tasks. As a math and science teacher, supplies and resources can be quite expensive. Your contribution to our classroom has been utilized on a daily basis. \r\n The white boards and Expo pens are used daily by two classes. It makes practice fun. Locating mistakes and making corrections are much easier using these tools. We just wish they could be used on the state tests too!\r\n The magnets have been used in both math and science. We are currently working on learning about the properties of matter. Yesterday we used the magnets to explore which matter has the property of magnetism and which ones did not. We then looked at our lists of matter with the magnetic properties and used them to make generalizations about what type of matter is magnetic and what kind isn't. It math, we use them to hold posters and problems of the day for the students to rotate through.\r\n Thank you again for you support! We have been able to set up individual centers for our students to explore when available, but also provide the ability to close things off and keep them focused on other tasks throughout their day. \r\n\r\nWe tried a few different ways to utilize them in the classroom and have found a great solution thus far. There is a large shelf that is attached to one of the walls in the classroom, and it has always been a difficult space to navigate. Students like to crawl under it and climb on top of it, and it becomes a large safety hazard. With the dividers, we are able to have a larger storage spot in the classroom, and help keep the students safe. The students have been very respectful of the dividers in the room. They understand when they are in front of something, they are not to go into that area. They have developed self-control in not trying to move the dividers out of the way. Again, thank you so much for this generous donation to our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746727925241,"projectUrl":"project/divide-and-conquer/9219975/","projectTitle":"Divide and Conquer!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tomko","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9988453"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_55355","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":781,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":69.6,"schoolId":55355,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Deep Creek Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Deep Creek Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/charlotte-county-public-school-district/deep-creek-elementary-school/55355"}
