The materials that were added were a welcomed addition to this space. Students manipulate the bendable items and draw on the erasable note pads. Your support means so much, not only to me as a teacher but, most importantly, to the children who will benefit from this wonderful resource.\r\n\r\nIn a time when quality, engaging educational materials are more important than ever, your willingness to invest in our students' learning is a gift that will have lasting impact. The Scholastic magazines are more than just reading materials—they are vibrant, exciting tools that spark curiosity, encourage independent thinking, and help students make meaningful connections to the world around them. Every issue is thoughtfully designed with colorful photographs, age-appropriate articles, and interactive activities that make learning both educational and fun.\r\n\r\nFor our young readers, these magazines will be a valuable tool for practicing sight words. As you know, mastering sight words is a foundational skill for developing reading fluency and comprehension. Each issue is rich with opportunities for students to encounter these high-frequency words in meaningful contexts. When children repeatedly see and read sight words in stories, captions, and activities, they build the automatic recognition skills they need to become confident readers. This repeated exposure—combined with the excitement of reading about animals, science, cultures, and current events—makes learning feel natural and enjoyable.\r\n\r\nBeyond sight words, the magazines will help students strengthen a wide range of literacy skills. They'll have opportunities to practice reading for detail, making predictions, identifying the main idea, and summarizing information. The topics are often connected to science, social studies, and the arts, so students will also be expanding their knowledge in multiple subject areas while improving their reading abilities.\r\n\r\nBut the benefits don't stop at academics. Scholastic magazines also inspire students to ask questions, discuss ideas with their classmates, and see themselves as part of a bigger world. Articles often highlight children from diverse backgrounds, promote kindness and empathy, and encourage students to think about how they can make a positive difference in their communities. These life lessons are just as important as the reading skills they build.\r\n\r\nYour generosity ensures that our students have access to high-quality materials that many might not have the opportunity to enjoy otherwise. For some children, the arrival of a new issue is one of the highlights of the month. They get excited to see the cover, flip through the pages, and share interesting facts with friends and family. These joyful experiences foster a lifelong love for reading—a gift that will serve them well for years to come.\r\n\r\nPlease know that your contribution is appreciated far beyond the walls of our classroom. You are helping to create an environment where children can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Your kindness sends a powerful message to our students: that their education matters, that their community believes in them, and that learning is something worth celebrating.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity, support, and belief in the power of education. We are truly grateful for everything you do to help our students succeed. Together, we are building not only strong readers but also curious, compassionate, and capable young people who will carry these lessons forward into the future.","fullyFundedDate":1746522687630,"projectUrl":"project/learning-with-scholastic-magazines-is-fu/9319517/","projectTitle":"Learning with Scholastic Magazines is Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mejia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7567826_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1601425974782","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7567826"},{"teacherId":1522731,"projectId":9133441,"letterContent":"This March Madness project excited and motivated my students to complete the reading and math tasks so they could shoot some hoops. I heard many of them say how it was their favorite activity of the year. The resources added to the March Madness basketball class decor and provided rewards for student performance. \r\n\r\nDuring March Madness the students completed reading comprehension tasks as they learned about Michael Jordan and Lebron James. They created timelines and compared the two athletes using a graphic organizer. They performed these tasks with effort and accuracy. Throughout the day \"time out\" would be called and students were able to shoot hoops at one of the stations set up around the classroom. For math practice in fractions students shot more hoops to compete against a class mate and record the results as fractions. Then they compared their fractions. They enjoyed the work so much that they completed their assignments with effort and accuracy again. \r\n\r\nThis was a day I know my students will not soon forget.","fullyFundedDate":1740950547708,"projectUrl":"project/march-madness-room-transformation/9133441/","projectTitle":"March Madness Room Transformation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1522731_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1711899803403","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1522731"},{"teacherId":8430181,"projectId":8492271,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations.
