With your donation, we were able to receive new sets of novels and begin a new novel study. The clipboards have also made it easier to \"work around the room\" while working in cooperative learning groups or independently.\r\n When thinking of which novel to start with, Mr. Popper's Penguins seemed like a great read during this time of year. My students are using this novel to identify character traits along with analyzing how characters change and adapt throughout the story. Throughout this novel, they have also been able to identify figurative language, use strategies to understand new vocabulary words, and identify cause and effect relationships. Your donation has helped to foster my students' love of reading while providing lots of laughter and fun with these entertaining novels. I use Literature circles in my Gifted/High Achievers classrooms. The three groups that read your book could not stop talking about it. They assigned themselves homework (surprising) because they couldn't get enough of your book. Many have already purchased the sequel. They have been online to research your upcoming books and informed me that there will be FIVE !!! That's astounding! Also, possibly a movie ? That will have to be a field trip in the coming years for sure. \r\n The impact your novel has made on my students is nothing short of miraculous. Some of them are not avid readers , and this novel got them excited to read!! As a follow-up activity, students had to complete two activities on a Project Choice Board. They compared/contrasted characters, retold the story on a storyboard , wrote letters to a character, and wrote a possible epilogue. They thoroughly enjoyed reading this amazing novel you created. You are a genius !!!! My students and I are truly grateful for all your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1727282535310,"projectUrl":"project/ai-sci-fi-fantasy-oh-my-/8809692/","projectTitle":"AI, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Oh My !","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Millovan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9770970"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_59324","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1163,"numTeachers":72,"percentFrplEligible":19,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":35.7,"schoolId":59324,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Embassy Creek Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Embassy Creek Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/broward-county-public-schools/embassy-creek-elementary-school/59324"}
