The various titles in this collection correlate with social studies lessons, in hopes that additional texts will help students create connections between their learning and reading. They will also experience historical events through various perspectives through these titles. The class set of books, Native Americans in History, will be used in small group to help students focus on main ideas and learn about non fiction text structures. They are also practicing note taking skills to help them organize information. This book will also expand their knowledge of great Natives in history. Hopefully they will find a person to connect and inspire them to keep learning and growing despite challenges. \r\n\r\nThe students will interact with these books in a multitude of ways. As we go through units, I display titles that correlate and will add to their learning. Some titles will be used as read aloud to promote interest and further learning on topics. The class set will be used in small group to build comprehension and vocabulary skills for my achieving readers. \r\n\r\nSo far, my next small group working on vocabulary and comprehension have been given a preview into the book Native Americans in History and together we read the introduction as a model for independent learning. They are so excited to learn more about Native people today and make connections to their learning! We also just finished a lesson the importance of 1619 in history! Students are now excited to explore what they learned through a good book!","fullyFundedDate":1760815486820,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-through-connection/9832926/","projectTitle":"Literacy Through Connection","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5333099_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1526396111074","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ellwithmrs-lee"},{"teacherId":6417860,"projectId":9828889,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the donations. After many years of being in education, this year I made the switch from teaching math and science in Spanish, to teaching ELA and Social Studies in English. I am so excited about this new adventure and loving every minute. As you can guess though, I needed flexible seating and lots of books of all genres and various levels. Your decision to fund my \"Awesome Books for Awesome Kids\" allowed our dream room to come true. We now have an amazing space that fosters learning and growing a love of reading. Our colorful stools now surround our back small group teacher led table. The pop up chairs around the room provide options for quiet, comfortable spots for reading. \r\nWhen I told my students that we had received some new supplies through a generous donation they were excited, but when I began displaying Dog Man books, Ivy and Bean books, National Geographic books with beautiful photos, and so many more, they were begging me to start checking them out and using them during our self selected reading time. I set up our new stools and seats before leaving one Friday, so when they returned after the weekend they came back to a classroom with sparkle.","fullyFundedDate":1760932373681,"projectUrl":"project/awesome-books-for-awesome-kids/9846954/","projectTitle":"Awesome Books for Awesome Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Butasi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10323163"},{"teacherId":10312657,"projectId":9830484,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. My students are absolutely loving the extra books, which serve as wonderful additional resources connected to our shared reading text. They are also enjoying the flexible seating options. These choices help support positive behavior and give students alternatives beyond sitting at their desks, which has made a meaningful difference in our classroom environment.\r\n\r\nFinally, the students are very motivated by the prizes they earn and take great pride in working toward them. My students are truly benefiting from all of these items, and I am incredibly grateful for your generosity and support.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping make our classroom a positive and engaging place to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1760661098727,"projectUrl":"project/comfortable-and-engaging-learning-space/9830484/","projectTitle":"Comfortable and Engaging Learning Space","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hudson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10312657"},{"teacherId":10311509,"projectId":9827290,"letterContent":"When the boxes started to arrive the students were curious, and when they found out what was inside was for them, they were ecstatic. The books are on level and the readers allow them to follow along. While reading they sit on the cushions, floor mats, and wobbly chair. We are using the new book series daily during small-group instruction, independent reading time, and partner reading. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students excitedly choose books from the new series and then eagerly recommend them to their classmates. These books have helped increase engagement, confidence, and a genuine love of reading.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating options—including the floor seat cushions, standing desks, and stools—have completely transformed our learning environment. Students are now able to choose seating that best supports their focus and learning style. Some students prefer standing while working on math tasks, while others curl up on a floor cushion with a book during reading time. I have noticed increased on-task behavior and improved comfort, especially for students who need movement or alternative seating to stay engaged.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless. They were full of excitement, asking questions, and eager to try everything out right away. Many shared that they felt like our classroom looked \"more like a real learning space\" and that it made them feel important and valued.\r\n\r\nThe pencil sharpener has also been a game-changer, allowing students to independently take care of their materials with minimal disruption, giving us more time for instruction.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors, the next steps for my students include continuing to build reading stamina using the new book series while applying comprehension strategies we are learning in class. We will also continue to practice responsibility and independence by making thoughtful choices about seating and materials that help us do our best learning. Your generosity has truly enhanced both our classroom environment and our daily learning experiences, and we are incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1760847713888,"projectUrl":"project/love-of-literacy/9830893/","projectTitle":"Love of Literacy!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Joseph","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4489812_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1517418993882","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4489812"},{"teacherId":10311414,"projectId":9826999,"letterContent":"Thanks to the new resources, our classroom has become a much more hands-on and engaging learning space. We are using the materials daily, especially during our current unit where students are applying concepts through collaborative projects rather than just worksheets. One standout moment was when students worked in small groups to complete a project using the new supplies—they were problem-solving, asking thoughtful questions, and explaining their thinking to one another with confidence. Students are loving the Who Was Series books and learning more about people from the past and present. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the flexible seating materials, their reaction was pure excitement. Several students said things like, \"We get to use this?\" and \"I am so glad that we have more flexible seating!\" That enthusiasm carried straight into learning. Even students who are usually hesitant to participate were eager to jump in and try something new, which made a big difference in classroom energy and engagement. They wanted the opportunity to sit in the \"special seating\" to complete their work. \r\n\r\nNext, students will build on this work by using the resources for a longer-term project where they will research biographies and States, followed by creating, and presenting their learning through Google Slideshows. They'll be revising their work based on feedback, strengthening both their academic skills and their confidence as learners. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors. Your support truly gave students an opportunity to experience deeper, more meaningful learning, and they are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1760550349669,"projectUrl":"project/delaware-literacy/9826999/","projectTitle":"Delaware Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Davis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10311414"},{"teacherId":5484214,"projectId":9828840,"letterContent":"Thank you for your support in providing flexible seating options, floor cushions, classroom books, and a teacher standing desk.
