Many of my second graders are first generation Americans who's parents work long hours at our local chicken plants. Eighty percent of my students are English Language Learners, our second grade classroom is a place where students from various backgrounds have the opportunity to feel at home in a safe and comfortable learning environment. Not only do the students struggle with the language, but they also have difficulty learning to read, write, and complete math. The school works hard to provide a learning rich environment with unique supports and a much needed structure. The students in my second grade classroom academically range between a kindergarten level-fifth grade level. The technology will help the students receive more differentiated material/practice to target their individual needs.
