You have afforded my students an opportunity to have more access to culturally diverse and emotionally intelligent books. Not only that the books are provide access to lots of rich language and some academic vocabulary to support students reading growth in first grade.\r\n\r\nA book that was impactful in our classroom is \"We Are All Wonders\" by RJ Palacio. We completed a social emotional lesson centered around respect with this book. Students asked so many great questions concerning working with neurodivergent peers. Most questions were generated towards how to support them better or be a good friend. However, this not only transferred over to my students care for the neurodivergent peers but for each other both inside and outside of our classroom.
