In my classroom I have a large range of student readers who assess at a kindergarten reading level all the way up to second grade. The guided reading level books that I have selected cover this range in readers. This library will allow me to provide books to encourage a love of reading to all of my students. Reading is a key part of education and it is very important that the students are given access to books that are developmentally appropriate for them. Students can often become frustrated when the books are too easy for them or more often than not are too hard for them. When kids become frustrated they no longer wish to read. For this reason, I am seeking to provide each of my students access to a large variety of books within their reading level. Providing them with many books to choose from will help to grow their curiosity and feed their hunger for books.
