Instead of searching through overcrowded baskets and shelves, students can now easily find books by topic, level, or genre. Students were so excited to see the new shelves and book bins. It has made it so much easier for students to find what they need. Because of you, students are reading more, choosing books with confidence, and developing lifelong habits as independent learners and readers. Because of you, my third graders now have access to books and learning tools that truly reflect their interests, abilities, and reading goals. Your kindness has made a meaningful and immediate impact on our classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen the books arrived, my students' excitement was impossible to miss. Their eyes lit up as they explored the new titles, eagerly searching for books that matched their interests. Many of them said, \"I can't wait to read this!\" or \"These books are my favorite!\" Watching them feel seen and heard through these choices was incredibly powerful. Every student was able to select a book they were genuinely excited to read during independent reading time.\r\n\r\nWe are already putting these resources to great use. Students now begin each day with independent reading, choosing books from our expanded classroom library. This choice has helped foster a stronger love for reading while also building confidence and stamina. I've noticed students staying engaged longer, discussing books with peers, and proudly sharing what they are reading.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the science of reading vocabulary activities bundle is helping strengthen students' understanding of language in a deeper way. We are actively using these resources to explore figurative language, practice using context clues, and break down unfamiliar words using prefixes and suffixes. During a recent lesson, students worked together to uncover the meaning of challenging words in their books, and it was exciting to see them apply these strategies independently.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue building their reading skills through small-group instruction and vocabulary projects that connect directly to the books they've chosen. They are beginning to see themselves as independent readers who can tackle new words and texts with confidence—and that growth is possible because of your support.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the tools they need to grow as readers and for helping create a classroom where reading is joyful, meaningful, and student-centered. Your generosity has truly made a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1760547188468,"projectUrl":"project/mrs-lerros-reading-express/9826850/","projectTitle":"Mrs. Lerro's Reading Express","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lerro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10311379"},{"teacherId":6289395,"projectId":9818169,"letterContent":"I wanted to take a moment to follow up and share the incredible impact your generous donation has had on my classroom. Thank you again for supporting my project and helping bring these much-needed materials to life for my second graders.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the flexible seating, I've noticed a huge difference in my students' engagement and reading stamina. Students are now eager to grab a book and find their favorite cozy spot to read. Whether they're sitting on the floor seats, or cushions, they are more focused, relaxed, and motivated to read for longer periods of time. Reading has become something they truly look forward to each day—something that fills our classroom with excitement and joy.\r\n\r\nThe literacy small-group instruction materials have also been a tremendous resource during our reading intervention time. I use them daily to target individual reading skills such as phonics, decoding, comprehension, and fluency. The hands-on activities and tools have helped my struggling readers build confidence while challenging my more advanced students to push their thinking further.","fullyFundedDate":1760366240273,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-fun/9818169/","projectTitle":"Literacy Fun","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bailey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6289395_orig.jpg?crop=956,956,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1605932912257","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6289395"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44509","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":542,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":29,"percentWhite":48,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.4,"schoolId":44509,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lancashire Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lancashire Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/delaware/brandywine-school-district/lancashire-elementary-school/44509"}
