While I know that cleaning supplies aren't the most exciting items to donate, they are so crucial for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable space. And when students are comfortable, they are much more prepared to learn and to take the academic risks necessary to grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. \r\n\r\nThe comfortable seating in my room, including floor mats and a large reading rug, are fixtures that help students feel comfortable and that provide them the opportunity to work in flexible spaces that meet their individual needs. But as you can imagine, middle school sneakers drag in all kinds of dirt and debris, which can make these seats lose their appeal over the course of the year. I don't think I've ever been as excited to receive a vacuum as I was when this one came in the mail, and I know my students will appreciate it too now that their favorite working spaces will be cleaner than ever! \r\n\r\nCaring for our classroom becomes a shared job among my students, and I know that pretty soon, our homeroom will be abuzz with students vacuuming and wiping our boards and tables before they leave school. Your generosity will not only keep our space clean but will also help instill a sense of responsibility and ownership among my students, which makes our classroom feel like home.\r\n\r\nFinally, the tissues and bandages will get us through cold, flu, and allergy seasons as well as the many cuts, scrapes, and paper cuts that plague us throughout the year. My students and I are so appreciative for your generosity and for your willingness to help us get the supplies we need to feel healthy and comfortable in school.","fullyFundedDate":1756145311760,"projectUrl":"project/a-clean-and-comfortable-classroom-is-key/9626166/","projectTitle":"A Clean and Comfortable Classroom is Key","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bergeron","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4422306"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44074","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":593,"numTeachers":61,"percentFrplEligible":35,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":66,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":90.1,"schoolId":44074,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dag Hammarskjold Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dag Hammarskjold Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/wallingford-public-school-district/dag-hammarskjold-middle-school/44074"}
