I have been teaching for more than 11 years and have taught many different novels from multiple curricula in that time. When I say this, I mean it sincerely: No book has ever had a greater impact on my students than The Outsiders. No book has ever been as loved by both my avid and my reluctant readers alike. No book has invested my students as quickly and as deeply as The Outsiders continues to do year after year after year. Ponyboy's story is timeless, and its portrayal of adolescence continues to ring true almost 60 years after it was written. \r\n\r\nThe books you have donated will allow another generation of readers to dive into the world of the greasers and Socs. They will allow my students to read at home, complete assignments at home, and to come back to the text as often as they need to in order to learn and grow as 7th grade readers, writers, and thinkers. \r\n\r\nHowever, the books you have donated provide far more than reading material for my students. They provide the gift of connection. In this digital world we live in, The Outsiders gives my students the gift of collectively reading together off of a screen. These books provide a bridge for my students to talk to their friends, siblings, and even their parents about a book we have all read and loved. These are the experiences that create lifelong readers, and words do not adequately express my gratitude for the countless conversations and connections that your donation will continue to create for many years to come.\r\n\r\nPlease accept my sincerest gratitude for your more than generous donation!","fullyFundedDate":1783340687704,"projectUrl":"project/copies-of-the-outsiders-for-all/10153793/","projectTitle":"Copies of The Outsiders for All","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bergeron","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4422306"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44074","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":568,"numTeachers":61,"percentFrplEligible":35,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":66,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.5,"schoolId":44074,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dag Hammarskjold Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dag Hammarskjold Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/wallingford-public-school-district/dag-hammarskjold-middle-school/44074"}
