I am the Literacy Coach at a bi-literacy school and we are working hard to improve our writing skills and literacy scores. I work with the teachers and our scholars in K-4. School supplies had been exhausted when we left for winter break and we were certainly in need of replenishment when we returned in January. The funding of this project made sure that many scholars entered a learning space in the new year where they felt loved and safe by having these essential items that play a vital role in creating a healthy and conducive learning atmosphere. These materials will be used for small group reading, as scholars thrive in small group instructions which helps to bridge the gaps in student's learning. They do not realize that they are having fun while learning!\r\n\r\nIn addition, these supplies allowed me to model lessons for teachers in my coaching role which is preparing and assisting them to be better teachers of literacy.\r\n\r\nThese supplies help to make my learning space run smoothly, as well as allow the students to have more hands -on learning for literacy.
