The students are already loving the supplies! So many of them have been able to regulate themselves using the sensory equipment while transitioning back into the school routine. Many of my students have been so excited to use the spinny chair during breaks and were so excited to see all of the things get taken out of the boxes. My student was also able to use the adapted scissors to cut shapes independently which will make her life so much easier!\r\n\r\nThe next steps for students with the sensory equipment is to learn what regulating their bodies means. The materials help them self-regulate, but now they can begin to learn how and why these materials help them succeed. I am already seeing progress in my students' abilities to sit and focus on a task for a set period of time. I am so excited to see the impact continue throughout the year as they continue to make progress on their goals. Your donations helped me to change up the theme of my classroom and get students excited to learn about important people, places, and things across the world! The books I also received helped greatly during my lessons, whether they were used during read alouds or group projects or research reports. Headphones allow students to fully engage with digital science resources such as interactive simulations, instructional videos, virtual labs, and read-aloud supports without distractions. Students can pause, rewind, and replay content at their own pace, which is especially helpful when learning complex concepts. The headphones also support differentiated instruction by allowing me to provide enrichment activities for advanced learners and additional scaffolding for students who need extra support, all within the same classroom environment. This technology has helped students take more ownership of their learning and feel more confident engaging with science content.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the headphones is the sense of independence and focus they provide. Many students are thrilled to be real scientists as they explore occasional digital labs. Additionally, students participate in a math intervention in my classroom and they are able to use these headphones to support their math learning as well. Students who struggle with reading or attention especially enjoy the headphones, as it reduces distractions and helps them stay engaged. English language learners and students with learning differences benefit greatly from being able to listen to instructions and content multiple times.
