The students love seeing which new story is going into our listening station every week. The new listening station materials allowed me to replace some of our older stations where the books were falling apart and unfortunately are now out of print. \r\n Having a listening station in my classroom opens up the world of inclusivity as all students in my classroom regardless of their reading abilities are able to listen to the stories and respond to the text. Listening station and these materials have introduced my students to some classic authors and characters such as Eric Carle, and Margaret & H.A. Rey's famous Curious George. The students were overwhelmed with joy every time a new package arrived with a few more of the books from the project. The loved watching me unbox the packages so they could see which titles we were adding to our classroom library. The addition of the new Step into Reading and early reader books to our classroom library have become some of the most popular books my students have chosen to read. Weekly the students choose books for their reading box and their take home reading bag. \r\n The addition of these new books has allowed for my students to choose books that are of interest to them. For many of my students this was their first exposure to characters such as Amelia Bedelia, and Fancy Nancy. I also loved being able to watch them explore some of the nonfiction Ranger Rick titles. The most heartwarming piece as a teacher is being able to see your students grow and learn as readers with books at their level. Thank you for adding these valuable resources to our classroom which will benefit my students for many years.","fullyFundedDate":1755733808809,"projectUrl":"project/unlock-the-world-through-words/9282232/","projectTitle":"Unlock the World through Words","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Doyon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2020248_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1555416951408","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2020248"},{"teacherId":2020248,"projectId":9281901,"letterContent":"Thank you for funding our classroom project \"Scholastic News Is What We'd Love to Use!\". The subscription also exposed many of my students to a new type of reading material as they had not encountered magazines as part of their reading repertoire prior to this, they thought reading was classified mostly to books. The online digital access makes it easier for me to project a larger version of the article up on our Smartboard and provides access to additional handouts that can be used with the articles.
