It was like Christmas morning when all of the supplies arrive! These may seem like simple resources for most but our students are very hands on and love to create projects to showcase their knowledge. \r\nThe first project they did was on the Industrial Revolution. Students were given step by step scenarios in which they had to draw the growth of a small, rural village into a massive urbanized and industrialized city. Each step in the process had students adding a variety of items to their map. As each step progressed their paper got more crowded and they had to make adjustments for the additions. The students had a lot of fun with this project. It enabled them to work cooperatively and they had to problem solve as they didn't know what was coming in the next step each time.\r\nThe second project they worked on was a map showing the foods that were exchanged during the Columbian Exchange. Students has to research where food originated from and then illustrate them on a world map to show this exchange. This helped them to realize that had this exchange not occurred many of the foods we eat and love today would not be available to us!\r\nThe third project that project that students worked on was to create a visual timeline of their own history. Students picked 4 significant moments/events from their lives to illustrate and share why they made an impact on them. This project helps students to see that no matter how big or how small, every person and everything has a history and has an impact on all of history.\r\nThese projects allow our students to critically think, work cooperatively and create visuals to help them process and understand the world around them. Having the supplies available to allow me to integrate these activities into my lessons is so very helpful. Your generous donations and support are again, so appreciated.
