Our little froglets love hiding in their new plants!\r\n Students are taking time to research and write about the froglets. They published a great story in our school newspaper this month about them. They have learned that ammonia and nitrite levels need to be at zero and that only nitrates are over 20, the tank is cycled.\r\n They have used their new magnet tool to scrape algae off the glass of the tank, which has saved our little froggos from having gross water conditions. \r\nIt has been such a fun project setting up the habitat for aquatic frogs. The middle school students that I work with are struggling readers. They often have trouble decoding, which causes them to lose some of the meaning in a story. They tend to see reading as work, so it is difficult to motivate them to read for enjoyment. Your donation has encouraged them to pick up a book to read for fun! \r\nThey knew the books were on their way to us, so they were excited to unpack the new treasures as they arrived. It gave them a chance to talk about the books and preview the ones they thought looked or sounded interesting. \r\nAlso, because some of the choices are decodable books, they can use their reading intervention skills to sound out the words and read fluently through their new chapter books. \r\nThe collection of books we had donated, includes stories from and about a diverse range of authors, with stories of different cultures and traditions.
