I teach children who struggle with both developmental and cognitive disabilities, and these tools help them feel regulated, motivated, and connected to our art room lessons.\r\n\r\n• Playfoam: The students love working with Playfoam! It provides a calming, tactile, and adaptable tool for skill-building. Since many of my students struggle with fine motor skills, this station is wonderful for helping them develop the hand muscles needed for daily writing.\r\n\r\n• Magnetic Vehicle Builder: This has been another incredible tool for hands-on learning. It challenges my students' problem-solving and engineering skills as they snap pieces together, while simultaneously giving them a fun, engaging way to strengthen their hand-eye coordination.\r\n\r\n•Magnetic Monsters: These have been a huge hit! They support fine motor development and coordination. Most importantly, they foster imaginative play by allowing students to create silly, unique characters to express their feelings and tell stories.\r\n\r\nLi'l Woodzeez & Treehouse: These characters give the children a wonderful chance to practice real-world routines as they explore the treehouse, use the slide, and move around the playhouse. By bringing these characters to life, my students are developing essential language and social skills with their peers.\r\n\r\nThank you again for bringing these vital learning tools into my art room. These cubbies have already made such a huge difference in my classroom. My students are able to spread out and stand in front of just their cubby without having to get over another student whose cubby is right above or below them. \r\nThese cubbies are helping my preschooler learn important independence skills. First they have to find the cubby with their nametag on it. Then, they are hanging up their coats and backpacks on the hooks! We also have them put their lunchboxes in the top opening and their rest items in the bottom one. Now everything is organized and easy for them to find! \r\nAll of these skills are important when starting school. Your generosity provided my students with an unforgettable learning experience that extended far beyond the art room.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of this project was watching my fourth-grade students step into leadership roles as they taught our younger students about kindness and demonstrated meaningful ways to spread it through rock painting. Seeing the older students mentor the younger ones with patience and enthusiasm, while the younger students eagerly learned from them, was truly inspiring. It was a wonderful example of how art can build connections, confidence, and compassion.\r\n\r\nThe success of this project has inspired me to make Rocks of Kindness one of our first art projects next school year. They struggle with reading, and come to me for support. Spelling and writing is especially hard for them. When we move parts of our lessons to the new table, they are so engaged and excited to write. I use to explicitly teach them to read and spell, and the table enables me to create the lesson right in front of them, rather than at a far away spot on the wall. While spelling is challenging, they are eager to give it a try, because they get to write directly on the table, and sometimes even add a little illustration to help connect meaning to the word. They immediately wanted to try everything out and were eager to learn how each tool could help them in the classroom. They especially love their wobble cushions and the under-the-table foot wobble supports. These materials have made a noticeable difference in helping students stay engaged during lessons and independent work time. Students who previously had difficulty remaining seated are now able to move in a safe and quiet way while still focusing on their learning.\r\n\r\nThe breathing tracers have also been a wonderful addition to our classroom. Students are learning how to recognize when they are feeling overwhelmed or frustrated and are beginning to independently use calming strategies to regulate their emotions. It has been amazing to watch them take ownership of their feelings and practice self-calming techniques in a positive way.
