Each child loves having a defined spot of their own. They are proud of their letter and take great care to keep their space clean. It has been wonderful to see the ownership and pride they have developed.\r\n\r\nThe rug has quickly become the heart of our kindergarten classroom. In the afternoon, we gather there for snack and enjoy wonderful read-alouds together. We play \"Magic Number\" along the edge, and each week we sit together to learn more about one another and strengthen our classroom community. And, of course, our absolute favorite thing to do is DANCE!\r\n\r\nIt has also become an engaging learning tool. The pebbles help us practice identifying letters and shapes during our hunts, and we use them to reinforce writing strokes, including our \"humps\" and \"cups.\" The children are learning while they play, move, and explore together.\r\n\r\nYour gift is making a real difference in the daily experiences of our students. They are building letter and shape recognition, strengthening early writing skills, developing responsibility for a shared space, and gaining confidence as they proudly claim their own spot. Just as importantly, they are learning to be part of a community—listening to one another, sharing stories, getting to know their classmates, and celebrating together.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and creating a place where they can learn, connect, and grow. In order to make learning more exciting and hands-on, I incorporate different forms of art into our lessons. For example, while learning about South America and its many different cultures, students explored Brazilian artists and recreated artwork inspired by their unique styles.\r\n\r\nWe also created life cycle projects after observing real frogs in real life. This hands-on experience helped students better remember and understand the different stages of the frog life cycle. Another favorite activity was creating \"All About Me\" self-posters. Students used the art materials from this grant to creatively express themselves and share their personalities with the class.\r\n\r\nBringing learning to life and making it exciting is crucial to student growth and engagement. We use it during morning meeting, where we gather together to check in, share ideas, and build our classroom community. Because the rug is larger than our previous one, every student now has a comfortable spot, which has made our meetings calmer, more focused, and more inclusive. We also use the rug throughout the day for read-alouds, mini lessons, partner discussions, and reflection time.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the rug, they were immediately excited. They noticed how bright and welcoming it made our classroom feel and were thrilled that everyone could fit comfortably. Many students commented on how cozy and happy the space felt, and they took pride in helping set it up and care for it.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly thankful to our donors for their generosity and support. Your contributions gave our students a space where they feel comfortable, connected, and ready to learn.
