Your donation has truly transformed a special space in our classroom and has given our students new opportunities to learn, imagine, relax, and grow.\r\nOur classroom received a Toniebox, tons of Tonies featuring favorite preschool characters and stories, headphones, a carrying case, a table and chairs, and a beautiful new bookcase. These resources have created a cozy and inviting space where our students can independently explore books and stories while building their love of literacy.\r\nWhen our students first saw the Toniebox and all of the familiar characters, their excitement was immediate! They were thrilled to recognize their favorite characters and couldn't wait to listen to the stories and songs. The headphones have also made it possible for students to enjoy stories in a calm, focused way while others are engaged in different classroom activities.\r\nOur new cozy reading area has quickly become a favorite spot in the classroom. Students can choose a book, settle into the table and chairs, listen to a Tonie, or simply enjoy some quiet time. We are seeing students use this space not only for literacy, but also as a place to practice self-regulation, independence, and making positive choices for themselves.\r\nOne of our favorite moments has been watching students gather around the Toniebox and then recreate the stories they have heard through dramatic play. They are using familiar characters to retell stories, talk about feelings, make predictions, and create their own adventures. What started as a new resource has become a springboard for imagination, language, and meaningful classroom conversations.\r\nOur next steps are to continue incorporating the Tonies and books into our literacy instruction, encouraging students to retell stories, identify characters and emotions, sequence events, and create their own stories. We will also continue teaching students how to recognize when they need a quiet moment and appropriately use our cozy space as a place to listen, read, and regulate.","fullyFundedDate":1784286754479,"projectUrl":"project/tuning-into-literacy-and-self-regulation/10369450/","projectTitle":"Tuning Into Literacy and Self-Regulation in Pre-K!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nadeau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8118957_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1783516979970","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8118957"},{"teacherId":6723197,"projectId":10313088,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping to fund my library project! Beginning a new school year with this beautiful, bright new rug was a dream come true. Parents, families, staff, and former students have all told me how beautiful it is and how much brightens up the room. After our first day, when I asked my students their favorite part of school so far, more than one said \"the ABC rug!\" This rug has done all that I hoped it would: serves as a meeting spot for us as a community and offers a safe space for all where we express our feelings and have fun together as a classroom family! I used the gift card to purchase essential, teacher-created resources from Teachers Pay Teachers, and the impact has been immediate and profound. Many of you are accustomed to using powerful technology in your own lives, and I want to explain how this \"technology\" is revolutionizing learning in my classroom: it allows me to instantly provide highly differentiated, quality instruction that addresses the wide variety of English skill levels I manage daily. Instead of spending hours creating ten versions of a single lesson, I can quickly download engaging, pre-built activities that support a 2nd grader struggling with vocabulary and an 8th grader mastering complex sentence structure—all focused on the same core content.\r\n\r\nSpecifically, the ELL Newcomer curriculum bundle has been a game-changer for my 5th-grade students who arrive with little to no English experience. This comprehensive 28-week resource covers all four language domains: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It includes engaging, daily, step-by-step lesson plans. The clear layout and consistent routine build confidence for both me and the students, allowing them to know exactly what to expect each week. Because the materials use a hands-on, holistic approach with plenty of visuals, vocabulary, and games, language learning happens in a natural and exciting way, which enables our newcomers to progress quickly and master essential English skills in a comfortable environment.\r\n\r\nUltimately, your gift directly increases my capacity to deliver personalized instruction. By using resources created by veteran teachers, my students get engaging, best-in-class materials that are perfectly tailored to help them build their foundational English skills while still learning crucial content material. Thank you again for investing in their future success and giving them the tools they need to thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1746730590116,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-activities-help-students-succee/9089280/","projectTitle":"Engaging Activities Help Students Succeed","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fisher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5942412_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1598551025294","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5942412"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43627","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":904,"numTeachers":63,"percentFrplEligible":77,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":36,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":43,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.5,"schoolId":43627,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Greene - Hills School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Greene - Hills School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/bristol-public-schools/greene-hills-elementary-school/43627"}
