I learned a lot about word origins and why words are spelled the way they are. It was a LOT of new and exciting learning for me that I can't wait to pass on to my students. \r\n\r\nNext year, I plan to use what I learned with my 3rd and 4th grade students during small-group instruction. They were immediately eager to explore and began sharing ideas about what they wanted to create. The excitement and energy in the room were incredible as students realized they would have opportunities to design, build, and create using a variety of hands-on materials.\r\n\r\nDuring Maker Time, students have been using the resources in creative and engaging ways. They have designed 3D structures with Perler beads, engineered complex marble runs, explored different circuit-building activities, and created friendship bracelets. These projects have encouraged problem-solving, perseverance, collaboration, and creativity. It has been wonderful to watch students test ideas, make improvements, and celebrate their successes together.\r\n\r\nThe students have responded enthusiastically to every opportunity to use these materials. Many have taken on challenges beyond what was initially expected, demonstrating innovation and determination as they work through design problems and learn from one another.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these resources during our Friday Maker Time sessions. We are excited to introduce new design challenges and engineering projects that will allow students to apply their creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThank you for making these experiences possible.
