We will soon move into the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors. Students have used their supplies to sketch and reflect on the principal civilizations of Mexico. We are very excited to be half way through our first large art project - creating Paper Mache Alebrijes (spirit animals). In the event of a severe emergency—whether from an accident, natural disaster, or violence—these supplies can mean the difference between life and death. Quick access to bleeding control tools, tourniquets, and trauma bandages allows immediate response before first responders arrive, giving injured students or staff a fighting chance. It empowers teachers and trained staff to act decisively, bridging the critical minutes that matter most.\r\n\r\nBeyond the practical life-saving capability, these supplies also bring a sense of reassurance to the classroom. Just knowing they are there can help reduce anxiety for students, staff, and families, reinforcing the idea that their safety has been considered and prioritized. \r\n\r\nWhile no one hopes to ever use them, the presence of these tools communicates preparedness, care, and a commitment to protecting the school community.
