It is awesome seeing the students being set up for success at the beginning of each class. Every item is appreciated each and every day!\r\n\r\nThe students are using the Kleenexes, pencils and folders every day. Students are using the colorful post it notes biweekly to make goals for the classroom and to keep track of missing work. They are using the colorful pens to do self grading on their work. It makes them feel happy to see not a dreaded red color on their papers. The students use the rulers for fun projects including a circular park project and house project. My Personal Finance class loves learning about the importance of budgets, career choices and pay scales, students loans, car loans and insurance. Your donation has sparked excitement and appreciation towards learning.\r\n\r\nThank you again very much for making education a priority and letting every student start class with the essentials.","fullyFundedDate":1755521820645,"projectUrl":"project/finding-the-color-in-math/9545315/","projectTitle":"Finding the Color in Math","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Chelsey Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8184924_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y221&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665664528779","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8184924"},{"teacherId":8184924,"projectId":8561757,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for providing classroom and math supplies. We have students in Kindergarten who have never had a full day of school and because of your generosity are adapting well and increasing their ability to stay regulated for full days. The cube chairs were key tools for this as they allowed these students to join in the group in a way that gave them private space and physical support.\r\n\r\nI have other students in 1st and 2nd grade who were not managing full school days regularly last year and now they have been full time from the beginning of the year. A favorite regulating item from the grant is the lighted and musical breathing bear. This is a calming tool that has visuals and texture and can help a student calm and regulate when they are not able to verbalize or process verbal communication. The bear even helped a student maintain calm during a field trip to the roller skating rink on Halloween. That felt like a breakthrough.\r\n\r\nThe students like that we can turn off the overhead lights in my room and have lamps instead. Some of them are quite bothered by the overhead fluorescents. They also delight in the wobble stools and are willing to come to my room and do tasks that are hardest for them while they keep their focus with the movement and balancing task that the stools offer. \r\n\r\nThe dry erase letter practice book was also a favorite and one student who did not recognize letters at the beginning of the year is able to name, write and identify sounds for most of the letters in the alphabet. She loves the dry erase format and is much more willing to engage when that is part of our work together. \r\n\r\nI am so grateful to have been able to start the year with these tools in place for these high-needs students. It has been a celebratory semester as we note the academic growth and improved participation and regulation for these students. This has an impact on all of the other students in their classrooms too.","fullyFundedDate":1723161151477,"projectUrl":"project/and-this-chair-was-just-right/8568794/","projectTitle":"And This Chair Was JUST Right!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Keller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp621378_orig.jpg?crop=1681,1682,x0,y61&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693196887300","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jolayne-keller"},{"teacherId":6087173,"projectId":7740610,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing these incredible sensory and calming tools— the students absolutely *love* them, and the impact has been amazing! The visual Time Timer is essential to keep us on track - showing visually how much time is left for support or small groups, easing transitions and reduces stress. Calm strips have been such a helpful addition too— I can give these to students struggling with worry or anxiety. Many students attach them to their desk or device and access them during class when they need a quick moment to regulate. It's been wonderful seeing how these small tools empower them to manage their emotions more independently.\r\n\r\nAnd we can't thank you enough for the liquid floor tiles—they're a *huge* hit with both students and staff! Kids are naturally drawn to them, and even adults can't help but stop and step on them. The colorful, shifting patterns are not only fun to look at, but they provide calming sensory input that helps students refocus and stay grounded. I've set them in my office entrance. Students (and staff!) will step in just to step on the tiles, providing opportunities for building rapport and a quick check-ins! With one kindergarten group, they are our \"magic doorway\" into our group time. Your support has truly made a difference by giving our students access to engaging tools that promote self-regulation, focus, and emotional well-being throughout the day—thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1695507558569,"projectUrl":"project/timers-sensory-tools-and-calming-corne/7740610/","projectTitle":"Timers, Sensory Tools, and Calming Corners!
