After studying different landforms and discussing how natural forces like water, wind, and erosion shape the Earth, students designed and built their own clay landscapes. Using slab, coil, and carving techniques, they created mountains, valleys, rivers, and textured terrain that reflected the ideas we studied together. When the materials first arrived, the excitement in the room was immediate. Many students had never used professional clay tools before, and they eagerly experimented with each one, discovering how different tools could create unique textures and details.\r\n\r\nOnce the clay dried, students used acrylic paint to bring their landscapes to life with color. They thoughtfully considered how colors and textures could represent rock, soil, water, and vegetation, blending creativity with observation of the natural world. Watching students problem solve, collaborate, and proudly share their discoveries with one another was a powerful reminder of how meaningful hands on learning can be.\r\n\r\nNext, students will reflect on their work and share the stories behind their landscapes, explaining the landforms they created and the natural processes that inspired them.
